Pre Party at 'The Ark' Beer Garden from 6pm (42 North Frederick Street, just off George Square) feat Sensu & Noodle DJ's & Friends
After the roaring success of the last Sensu versus Noodle we're back for our second soundclash on Friday August 21st. This time we have decided to bring a piece of Ibizan spirit to Glasgow for one night only. To capture the vibe of the white isle we have roped in a couple of Circo Loco's main men, Moon Harbour's Matthias Tanzmann and Peace Division's Clive Henry.
For those who are sadenned by the fact DC-10 still remains closed this is the perfect substitute, what with the outdoor pre -party before just to get you in the mood before heading deep underground.
Matthias Tanzmann's output is more than just functional club music. Whether it be on the turntables or in the studio, his brand of funky techno combines subtle arrangements that sit perfectly between House and Tougher sounds and always aim straight for the dancefloor. Co owner of the excellent Moon Harbour imprint, collaborations with the likes of Steve Bug and Daniel Stefanik, Circo Loco resident and DJ'ing all over the world, Matthias's profile is soaring and deservedly so.
Next up is one of Circo Loco's longest standing residents, Clive Henry. Clive may be better known to some as one half of the recently disbanded Peace Division – for over a decade they have produced some of the best house and techno with there own inimitable style. With his close association with london label crosstown rebels Clive continues to push his deep subtle grooves and infectious beats wherever he goes.
And last but by no means not least, Affi Koman. Noodle and Sunday Circus resident on warm up duties showing why he's one of the most in demand DJ's in Scotland. Affi has played alongside the likes of Radioslave, Justus Kohncke, Jamie Jones & loads more. His Tracks have been picked up by Pete Heller and played by the likes Behrouz and Dubfire. Get down bang on 11 to hear what all the fuss is about.
Sensu vs Noodle with Circo Loco sounds right on your doorstep. what more could you ask for?0 Kommentare 108 Tage

Sensu Vs Noodle
Tobi Neumann [cocoon]

Following back to back sell out Sensu parties we thought it would be a great idea to invite our good friends Noodle for a head to head versus type shindig. Wasting no time a date has been set and the line up confirmed.
For those in the know Noodle have been throwing intimate parties with with great success. Former guests include Afrilounge, Barem, Jamie Jones, Sei A/ Droido, Milton Jackson, Sunday Circus's Ronnie Muirhead & Affi Koman who is also is the sole resident at the night. We've been to every one and had a blast........from what we remember!
So, between us we decided to rope in a couple of our favourite acts and after a lot of brainstorming and shouting we decided the perfect soundclash of both nights would be best handled by Cocoon's Tobi Neumann and M_nus's Marc Houle.
It has been nearly 2 years to the day since Tobi Neumann's last visit when he rocked the Sub with Cocoon compadre Andre Galuzzi. Tobi has become a firm favourite within the Sensu camp and we have made many and an impromtu journey by road and by air to catch him play.
He is one of the major driving forces in German house and techno. His production work for Miss Kitten, Chicks On Speed and Ricardo Villalobos, among others have brought him international recognition and has made Tobi a remixer in demand. His recent collaborations with Onur Ozer as Sensitiva and a mix Album for London phenomenon Secretsundaze means his profile continues to soar. Recently he has been closing Cocoon's parties in Ibiza and the Warehouse Project in Manchester following Sven Vath. In fact he is one of the busiest DJ's on the planet (just check his myspace page). He manages to expertly fuse the sound of groove led house with chicago leanings, Detroit techno and up to date European offerings all with a unmatched German efficiency.
Tobi is just as excited as we are about his return to the mighty Sub Club. Expect the dance floor moving, exuberant whoops and "one more tune" hollerings as he brings the night to a climactic close.
Noodles shout is the excellent Marc Houle who we first heard back in 2006 at the Liquid Lounge. That night he blew us away with an amazing live set, expertly crafted together with laptops, hardware and midi controllers all creating a schmorgasboard of bleeps, squeeks, weird bass happenings and big synth lines rattling through our ear drums.
He needs little introduction to the Glasgow crowd after appearances at Return To Mono, Pressure and of course Sensu. He is one of the main producers on M_nus and was an integral part of Richie Hawtin Contakt show which took the M_nus sound and ethos all over.
After the massive Bay Of Figs in 2006 he received major kudos and success which immediately put him on the radar for clubbers and promoters worldwide. He continues to play a sound that can't quite be described except by the man himself “ Detroit + new wave + Kraftwerk + Commodore ÷ Iron Maiden.” Sounds good
This is the perfect way to kick off what will undoubtedly be another big year for Sensu and the boys at Noodle.

Barem (Minus) - Noodle - 21st November
Mauricio Barembuem (aka Barem) perfectly personifies the new breed of electronic musician who has grown up in the digital age, using intuitive software programs like Reason and Ableton to spontaneously express ideas and emotions. Online distribution has also made it possible for them to reach out and connect with audiences across the globe, no matter where they are - Buenos Aires for example, where Barem grew up amid the hustle and bustle of a city on the edge.
His teenage years were spent playing blues and rock guitar in bands but this always meant compromise and he needed something more than that – something that would allow a purer form of self expression. At the time it was hard to hear good dance music in Argentina apart from one or two tracks that crossed over into the commercial clubs he sometimes visited with friends but that was enough to whet his appetite and he immediately got wrapped up in the beats, connecting with the music on a deeper level. He started exploring the electronic medium and became fascinated by how some DJs could apply their own peronal vision to the music, elevating it to an art form. This was exactly the inspiration he needed and he was soon experimenting with loops on his laptop, and buying records (7th City, Plus8, Perlon, Spectral and of course Minus) to dj with. However, deciding to become a techno producer/DJ in Buenos Aires was easier said than done. The equipment was very expensive and gigs were few and far between. It was very frustrating and he was close to quitting a few times but he found the right people at the right time and the solid advice they gave kept him motivated and focussed on his goal.
It was to be a defining moment and from that point on his induction into the scene was fast and frenetic. He released the Kleine EP on the free net label Unfoundsound in July 2005 not really knowing what to expect but something clicked, with the track Suki in particular (rereleased on vinyl by Phonocult two years later) grabbing the attention of many well known DJs. He soon made the step up to Foundsound (Unfoundsound's parent label) and released his first vinyl EP Campo Madness in May 2006 consolidating his position as a fresh, emerging talent.
His relationship with Minus began in November 2005 when he met Richie Hawtin in Buenos Aires who also showed a lot of interest in his work and encouraged him to submit some demos, one of which – Opal – appeared on the Min2Max LP to more critical acclaim. Needless to say, that was followed by a period of non-stop touring in the US and Europe as word got around and demand for his live performance grew. Then at the end of 2007, the release of his superb debut EP for Minus - Never Better Than Late – really cemented his strong personal and artistic connection with the label, representing another major achievement in his short but intense journey so far. Listening to the Minus EP, it’s clear he concentrates most energy into creating the powerful basslines that define his sound. His expansive use of reverb and delay on tracks like Then They… and So Serial creates a massive space for the subtle percussive elements to skip and snake while distant, sometimes eerie melodies often occur on a random, secondary level as a result of these interacting elements. For Barem, the bottom line is to keep things simple and stay true to the old school minimalist approach that first got him hooked.
