Wanted: public speakers!
***Would you like to speak out about smacking at a major young person-led concert?***
We are looking for two young people to give a speech at a concert on Wednesday 18th November, in Winchester Cathedral.
The concert will be a very big event, run entirely by young musicians. It's called 'A child's tear' and is all about ending violence against children and young people.
This is a great chance to do something new, practice your public speaking skills and gain experience.
Before the concert, both young speakers would meet with us to talk about it and prepare the speech.
Everything would be FREE for you - we would pay for all your travel, food and accomodation expenses. We can also help by writing a letter to your school if you need to take time off. Winchester is about an hour from London by train.
This opportunity is open to children and young people of any age, and of any religion or none.
If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible, and by Wednesday 21st October at the latest. Click here for more information: http://www.childrenareunbeatable.org...

Plus: learn about Parliament, do a children's rights quiz and play children's rights bingo at our other events! Don't forget, it's all completely FREE and we will pay for all your travel and food expenses. Read on for more...
***Training: How Parliament works***
A really important topic for young people. Find out about how the decisions that rule your lives are made! On Tuesday 27th October at City Hall in London. (This is during half-term in many schools and colleges.) Click here to find out more: http://www.childrenareunbeatable.org...
***Conference: Celebrating great achievements; or missed opportunities? Looking back at 20 years of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child***
At this conference you'll have the chance to talk about children's rights with other young people and adults, do a children's rights quiz, and play UNCRC prize bingo! It's on Friday 20th November at Oval Cricket Club in London. Click here for more information: http://www.childrenareunbeatable.org...
To find out more or book a place for the training or the conference, just get in touch with us by Sunday 18th October 2009. Reply to this message or use the details below. Remember to say which event you're interested in!

Mini job opportunity... and how to put your views across!
'Government consultation' might not sound like the most exciting couple of words. But it's better than it sounds. It
means the government is offering everyone a chance to have their say! This means YOU!
Right now, the government are running a consultation about violence against women and girls. It's really important
for all supporters of Children are Unbeatable – girls, boys, men and women.
The government rightly says that all violence against women is wrong, wherever it happens and whoever commits it.
But the law still says that violence against under-18s in their own homes and from their own families is OK!
This has to stop! To help prevent violence against women and girls, the government needs to give all children equal
protection from violence.
You can tell the government what you think in these ways:
* * *
1. Talk about what you think...
You can tell us what you think on the phone. Click here for more:

2. Write about what you think...
You can write it all down. Click here for more: http://www.childrenareunbeatable.org...

3. Mini job opportunity! Be a young editor for CAU...

3. Join us on Facebook!

1. Tell us what to do...
You are invited to join our new young people’s advisory group.
We are looking for children and young people to give us their opinions on some of our future plans, by email.

2. Speak up about physical abuse of children.
We’re looking for children and young people with experience of the care system to speak up about physical abuse of
children.
This would probably mean being quoted in CAU publicity materials or in newspapers. Of course, you would choose what
you say, and whether or not we used your name. If you want, you could be completely anonymous.
Read more: http://www.childrenareunbeatable.org...
3. Join us on Facebook!
Here we are: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gi...
If you're already in our group, why not invite your friends to join?
This is a really easy way of helping our campaign. We always need more support from young people. Together, we can
work to change the law and make a real difference to children - and the more of us there are, the better!
Give your friends the chance to help end legalised violence against children and hear about our exciting
opportunities for young people! Click here to invite them: http://www.facebook.com/groups/edit.php?
members&gid=6406286661
4. What have CAU young campaigners been up to lately?
