- The Young Greens are a dynamic youth movement who are part of the European network of Young Greens.
We provide a fresh, dynamic, forward approach for young people to air their views about the future of their society and our planet. We are truly democratic, non- sectarian and forward thinking. We provide an input and influence on The Green Party/ Comhaontas Glas, while developing our own views and independent ideals. We promote environmental sustainability, global justice, fairtrade and clean, open and democratic political decision making.
Monaghan young Greens are the first non university affiliated Young Greens branch in Ireland. We organise our own campaigns, events, as well participate in National events. It is you the members who decide our ideals, policies and our future!
While being recognised as a youth wing to the Green Party, The Young Greens do not hesitate to criticise the government where we feel necessary, as well as supporting them where support is due.

LOCAL YOUNG GREENS OPPOSED TO RE- INTRODUCTION OF THIRD LEVEL FEES
The Young Greens are firmly opposed to any future re- introduction of third level fees.
Economic disaster and increased inequality would be the main outcome from this totally retrograde step, which seems driven by the greed of competition between universities. The Irish economy has benefited greatly from the abolishment of fees, which was on of the key foundations that lead to unprecedented growth in the I.T and pharmaceutical sectors during the boom years.
“During this time of economic uncertainty we need to encourage as many people into further third and fourth level education, in order to secure a high tech knowledge economy powered by indigenous research and development. The re-introduction of third level fees would be such a narrow step, that would actually damage future prospects of economic growth”, says the chair of Cavan – Monaghan Young Greens.
The Young Greens in Cavan / Monaghan urge representatives from all political parties to stand in solidarity with the students and parents of the constituency by showing Batt O’ Keefe that we do not support fee paying third level education. A full scale examination of expenditure of public money in the sector is called for by The Young Greens, and efficient and wise spending must become a priority.

Use Your Vote on 12 June!!
Monaghan Young Greens calls on all local Young People that are registered to vote to make a special effort to use their democratic voice in the forthcoming Lisbon Treaty Referendum. They are calling on all Young People to make their voice heard and be counted on what is their future, the future of their country, and the 27 EU member states, by voting whatever way they like. The Young Greens advises people to inform themselves of the issues that are being faced by the Irish population, and show to our government that we take democracy seriously by coming out in force at the polling station.
“It is very easy to become alienated from the real issues and substance of the treaty with all the differing of opinion and much manipulation of the truth”, says Young Greens leader, Mícheál Callaghan. “ However if Young People can show the government that they are civically minded, which indeed they are, then maybe they will sit up and take note, which hopefully will lead to all future elections and referenda being held on dates which suit young people.”
The Young Greens are not taking an official stance on the Treaty, as was decided at a special Green Party members convention in December of 2007 when a 66 percent majority in favour of the treaty was not reached, however they do stress the importance of standing up and being counted on June 12th.

Unremarked upon by the Wests media, a campaign of persecution is taking place in the Gaza Strip, and to a lesser extent in the West Bank. The general silence surrounding this campaign aids its perpetrators. The victims are Palestinian Christians, in particular the small Christian community of Gaza.
The perpetrators are a variety of Islamist groups, all of which are manifestations of a process of growing Islamic militancy and piety taking place across the region
The Christian population of the Gaza Strip is about 2,000-3,000 people. Gazan politics has long been characterized by a conservative, Islamic bent. Gaza's Christians as a result have tended toward political invisibility.
There are many examples of intimidation, beatings, land theft, firebombing of churches and other Christian institutions, denial of employment, economic boycotts, torture, kidnapping, forced marriage, sexual harassment, and extortion,he said. PA officials are directly responsible for many of the attacks.
