Loughlinstown family face eviction and homelessness
Single father thirty-four year old Joe Kinnane and his four young children, Jasmine, Nicole, Austin and Bobby are facing eviction from their family home in Cherrywood, Loughlinstown on August 1st.
Joe's partner and mother to his four children died suddenly and tragically aged twenty-nine, in the Cherrywood home in 2006 from a heart condition. At this point Joe moved into the Cherrywood home and took full responsibility for raising their children on his own. Rent allowance that had previously been allocated for the Loughlinstown address under the deceased mother’s name has been denied to Joe. Despite himself and his kids surviving solely on unemployment assistance and children’s benefits. The HSE and DLRCC refuse to intervene to offer support in this young family’s ever increasingly desperate situation.
A court order demands that they must vacate their Cherrywood home by August 1st and thus far Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council have refused to offer Joe and his children any alternative housing. Joe has been left with no other option but to defy the court order and is set to remain in the Cherrywood home with his children until suitable accommodation can be allocated by DLRCC.
Dun Laoghaire Housing Action Campaign convener and local representative for the People Before Profit Alliance Hugh Lewis says:
"A campaign has now been established to help ensure the safety and well-being of Joe and his children; it is wholly unacceptable that the HSE would deny this family their right to rent allowance and their right to adequate housing."
"We call upon Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to immediately provide Joe and his children with a suitable home to prevent this young family being thrown out onto the streets."
"Across the borough over 4000 people are now on the housing waiting list. Joe and his children are yet another example of DLRCC's appalling record on providing social and affordable housing."0 comentarios 494 días

Article from French Newspaper HUMANITE (rough translation)
To Ballybrack, the pride to have voted "not" In this popular neighborhood of the south of Dublin,
the voters massively voted for the "not"
Because Europe does not go in the good direction.
Dublin, special envoy.
North to the south of Dublin, the popular neighborhoods and workers massively voted "not" at the time of the referendum on the treaty of Lisbon, leaving only some crumbs to the supporters of the "yes" on fringes it coastal of the easier Southeast. Far buildings high-tech of glass and of steel and financial and decision-making centers of the capital, the leashes-for-counts years of prosperity said not to like the whole direction that took the Celtic Tiger in the steps of the European Union and his cursed treaty.
To Ballybrack, to twenty minutes to the capital south, the neighborhood resembles so many others with its monotonous lines of gray or red houses, its covered fences of tags and its no man’s lands littered of rubbish where, evenings fallen, weave themselves all the traffics. This sector obtain to the Labor Party to the last legislative elections, that did country for the "yes", rejected the treaty of Lisbon to 80% and, does exceptional as for the country remainder, the people moved themselves comparatively massively to go to the ballot boxes (to 53%), we confirm Hugh Lewis, collective one for the "not" and campaigning active of the association populates It before The profit.
The confusion given rise to by a judged treaty "bureaucratic" and "illegible" returns continually in the discussions. "I did not understand it, entrusted Keith Moore, but I myself did it to explain by a buddy." Keith, twenty-four years, that worked in data processing, is unemployed and touches in all and for all 197 Euros of benefits: "I also voted" not" because I no longer know too how to do."
The young ones of Ballybrack and Loughlinstown, town neighbors, lead their evil to live, and very few between them follow studies. "We are confined, the young ones leave the school, they leave elsewhere; I am not Anti-european because I refused the treaty, I want a close Europe of us and more united", we confide Ann McDonald, mother of nine children, worried of the future of the public services, dark cuttings in the social budgets and threats of privatization. Ann knows of what she speaks. In the neighborhood, there is not service of public transportations, on three schools it not in remainder more than two, and his gravely sick husband profits until this day of one taken charge of complete public of its medical expenses. "But until when?" questions itself she.
In the streets, the posters and the slogans of the "not" painted on the walls do florès. The campaigning of the "yes" very little risked itself in hostile judged territory. Not even the Plowing that holds district and of which the rallying to the camp of the "yes" was felt as "a shame" for Sharon Merrigan. The young woman, pediatric nurse, recognizes to have had trouble with the treaty: "It is very complicated, and it there had not democratic debate. One deviated on the adhesion to THE E.U. Now, we have interrogations everywhere in Europe on the trajectory that takes this union. It is necessary to listen us. What our leaders listen us!" Same feeling of abandonment on the nonexistent public transportation here, the stores that decline and the pubs that close after one another.
The projects of defense and of common security, historic neutrality of Ireland and his independence were the one of the strong arguments of the supporters of the "not" during the country. They provoked the "taken of conscience" of Christmas Blake, father of six children. "For me Ireland will become more and more small on the European card. How to do itself to respect without betraying our principles and to do itself to hear with strengths weakened?" This former worker of the building, six months ago again, recall also the raw reality of the moment. The Tiger0 comentarios 525 días
