The Gap Year is the world’s first truly global online reality show. We’re sending six lucky travellers – one each from the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada – on the trip of a lifetime around the world. These young adventurers will document their journeys on Bebo, sharing with us their videos, blogs and photos from all corners of the globe. Produced by Endemol UK in association with Bebo, The Gap Year is all about the journey…
This page represents the Gap Year HQ – the team behind the scenes that run the show. We’ll be using it to keep you up to date with what we’re up to, as well as giving you a chance to leave us comments and feedback.

Gap Year HQ
Welcome to Gap Year HQ. Situated deep within the Endemol building in London, the office space belies the global reach of The Gap Year. The walls are decorated with maps and calendars, the desks strewn with guide books and travel magazines and people are literally buried under stacks and stacks of paperwork.
Let me talk you through a little of what happens here at HQ on a daily basis, and who does what on the team.
First and foremost, we’ve got our Series Producer. She looks after the project as a whole, deciding what goes on the site, what we want our travellers to do and generally bossing people around. Then we’ve got two Executive Producers, who also like to boss people around. Their duties range from talking to the press to meeting with sponsors, and everything in between.
As well as those lovely people, there’s another Producer – who we call ‘The Route Master’, who’s currently working very hard to organise the basic routes our travellers will be taking, and a Researcher who helps the producer out and acquires equipment, clothing, camera kits etc. to take on the journey.
Then there’s the Production Manager, who has the unenviable task of making sure the journey runs smoothly. Along with the Production Co-ordinator, they have to organise everything from visas, jabs, flights, expenses, couriers, insurance… all whilst making sure the project stays on course – or else they will the wrath of the head-honcho: our Production Executive!
We also have six Producer/Directors on board – three guys and three girls – who will be accompanying the travellers on the trip of a lifetime. As well as training and preparing for the trip ahead, they are currently being very smug about the fact that they’re being paid to travel round the world for six months. Lucky bleeders…
And finally, there’s the Assistant Producer, who edits videos, writes HQ’s announcements, moderates the Bebo page and is currently writing this blog entry. Hello!
As we get closer and closer to the launch date, the team is ever expanding and the workload is getting more and more intense. But we couldn’t be happier – everyone on the team is really enthusiastic about The Gap Year and we can’t wait for the journey of a lifetime to begin…
It’s a late night for us tonight, as we announce the New Zealand traveller at 10pm UK time (that’s 9am Thursday for you New Zealanders). Stay tuned for that, and look out for more production blog entries soon.

What a fabulous idea!!! are you running one for 2009? How would i get involved in something like this?
Just wanted to say Congrats to all those behind the Scene, you have done a great job with the show. I know we may not have always seen eye to eye HQ but I still love you all. I will miss the end of the show but my name better come up at the after party or there will be hell to pay

QUISTION IF YOU WERE IN ROXYS SHOES AND WAS SET A CHALANGE BUT WERE IN THE HOSPITAL WHAT WOULD U DO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL AND DO THE STUPID PAPER PLANE CHALANGE OR GET YOUR SELF LOOKED AFTER BY THE MEDICAL STAFF BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY ANY ONES HEALTH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NOT MAKEING PAPER PLANES
