There is a great deal of talk at the moment about empowering young people and giving them a voice but what does this mean? The Northern Ireland Youth Forum supports young people to reach informed opinions about issues that affect them and our wider community. Our experience shows that quite often young people are asked for their opinions but evidence that they have been taken into consideration and actually had an influence is difficult to find.Our job is to promote the voices of young people and that means hearing those voices in as many ways as possible.
We wanted to start an initiative where young people themselves could highlight things that matter to them rather than just being asked what they think about things that other people have decided were important. Ten Pounds worth of change has been set up for exactly that purpose.

- GET INVOLVED!
- We have developed a videowall and social networking space to help young people to highlight issues and connect with others who share similar interests. We came up with the idea of ten pounds worth of change because we know that young people have it within their power to bring about change... Themselves!
To create a little incentive to get things started we are launching this competition. In April, May & June we'll be giving away 10 prizes for the top ten videos each week (kindly sponsored by O2).
To be in with a chance of winning a prize all you have to do is get involved and spread the word!
We have £1000 worth of O2 top up vouchers plus exclusive t-shirts to be won!! Every week for the next ten weeks you can vote for your favourite videos on the videowall. At the end of each week the videos displayed on the top ten videos page will each win a prize.

- .......all you have to do is submit a short video clip of your idea to the videowall. You can be as creative as you like with this...talk straight to camera, perform a sketch, create a slideshow... you can even sing if you like! The choice is yours and remember ...variety is the spice of life.
How to add your video to the videowall
Each video uploaded will be entered into the competition. Visitors to the site can view videos submitted, comment on and vote for the best ideas. Each week, the 10 highest rated videos appear on a top ten videos page and win prizes ....so spread the word!
Each registered member of the site can vote for as many videos as they like (including their own) but they can only vote once for each video. You can post as many videos as you like to the videowall but each video can only win once. - VOTE FOR VIDEOS TO WIN!

Its not... to vote for your favourites click the 'comment' link below the viewing screen while your video is playing, this opens the comment page. the comment page allows you rate the video... the videos that make up the top ten are the ones with the highest ratings for that week, you can leave a comment too if you like...this is a good way to link up with other people who have similar interests but more importantly helps us to understand what young people care about.
The videowall is a kind of experiment, we've never done anything quite like this before but we're hoping that you'll get involved, give it a go and tell us what you think. - GET IN!!
