We have just launched some very exciting updates to SHOUTcast product. I'm really excited and I want you to know about them...

First a little bit about SHOUTcast. SHOUTcast started as a side project for some Winamp developers over a decade ago has grown organically into one of the largest online radio platforms in the world. There are over 22,000 SHOUTcast radio stations offering a vast array of music and talk programming from around the world. SHOUTcast broadcasters run the spectrum from professionally programmed commercial radio to "community" stations programmed by users, SHOUTcast reaches a daily peak concurrent worldwide audience of more than 500,000 users and is widely available through media players like Winamp, iTunes and Windows Media Player, as well as through set-top boxes, web applications and portable devices. In spite of consitent and strong organic growth over the years, the core SHOUT product lost pace with the features and functionality of other services.

Today, with the launch of release of SHOUTcast 2.0 we are rolling out a redesigned Website that offers improved search capabilities, a new search toolbar and a new player app that can be integrated across leading social networks including Bebo, Facebook, MySpace and others. The app also works in Mac Dashboard, AIR, Vista Sidebar, iGoogle, Yahoo! Widgets, etc...

SHOUTcast 2.0 highlights include:

* Upgraded search functionality allowing users to search by artist name, song or genre with simple or advanced search options
* Dynamic content module to provide quick access to various features/sections of the Website
* Top stations listed by genre providing single-click access to a variety of different radio stations that changes every time you visit the site to encourage discovery
* Enhanced user feedback collection and communication, including the new SHOUTcast Blog
* New photo gallery featuring live concert photos of music artists
* Skinning in a variety of colors
* Redesign of SHOUTcast Radio & TV within Winamp


I'm really proud of the work that the team has done here to make SHOUTcast more useful, attractive and compelling for users, broadcasters and developers. Later this we will be rolling out improved Broadcaster Tools and APIs which we are confident will make SHOUTcast even more popular and more useful.
