- FUNDRAISING FOR OUR LADY'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL CRUMLIN
- Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
- Please visit my web-site at http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org
My name is Eugene O’Leary. I am a 66 year old cyclist! ("The Pedaling Pensioner!")
My daughter, Helen was a patient of Our Lady’s, until she was eighteen years old. She died one year after leaving the care of the hospital (February 2002), and having her care transferred to an adult hospital.
In order to show some appreciation for the wonderful work done by the hospital in enabling my wife and I, together with her brothers and sisters to enjoy the gift of having “an angel” in our family for nineteen years, I started to do fundraising cycles for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, six years ago.
My ten year old grandson Dylan recently underwent chemotherapy treatment at the hospital and has made a complete recovery after removal of a tumour from behind his left eye.
- My Next Big Fundraiser
- I will be taking part in a cycle from Malin Head to Mizen Head from 14th. to 19th. July this year. The total distance will be 433 miles. I will be once again using this cycle to raise sponsorship for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
The cycle is being organized by Gearoid Pierse from Listowel, Co. Kerry who is now based in Santry and works in Swords, Co. Dublin.
Gearoid is a battle-hardened veteran of long-distance cycling and has taken part in the following cycles: 2003: Finland to Italy. 2005: Moscow to Ireland. 2007: Brisbane to Sydney and in 2008 he cycled from Istanbul, Turkey to Listowel, Co. Kerry. See http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/I...

.com - CYCLE ACROSS IRELAND
- I cycled from Galway Docks to Howth Harbour (150 Miles) on August Bank Holiday Monday 2008 (4th. August), to raise funds for The Medical & Research Foundation of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. I left Galway at 8.30 a.m. and arrived in Howth at 8.45 p.m. having stopped in Athlone for lunch and a short stop in each town en route while my support team collected sponsorship. Total cycling time was 10 hrs. 9 mins. Average speed 15.1 m.p.h. I wish to thank Billy Kenny who provide his taxi and support for the day, Billy's wife Christine and daughter Martina and my own daughter Janice and her partner Brian. They came along and spent a very long day fundraising along the route. A big thank you also to all who donated. If anyone wishes to support me on my next overseas cycle for the hospital, in Athens, Georgia (3rd. to 13th. September) please go to http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org Please support a great cause and make the pains, aches and saddle sores worthwhile :-)

Kilmallock, Co. Limerick Fundraising Cycle
I took part in a fantastic 100K fundraising cycle for Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin on Sunday 19th. August in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick. The event was organised by local resident Liam Mulcahy and his wife Stacey, whose 2 year old daughter Sophie is a patient in Crumlin and had six heart operations in her short life to date.
The event was a resounding success and Liam and Stacey are delighted to announce that it resulted in raising over €13,500 to date. Well done to them both. See Liam's fundraising website http://www.cycle4sickchildren.com0 komentarzy 94 dni

My Howth Head to Malin Head to Mizen Head 1,000K. fundraising cycle for Our Lady's Children's Hosp.
To cycle the length of Ireland has been one of my dreams since the very first day that I took part in a fundraising cycle.
While cycling in Monterey, California last year, I met Gearoid Pierse, a native of Listowel, Co. Kerry who happened to be doing some work in San Jose at the time and came down to Monterey to meet our cycle group.
Gearoid is a veteran of many long distance cycles. His last one was from Istanbul to his native Listowel. This year he decided that he wanted to cycle the length of Ireland, from Malin Head in Co. Donegal to Mizen Head in Co. Cork and asked me if I would be interested in coming along. I did'nt have to be asked twice!
As a number of those taking part in the cycle, live here in County Dublin, it was decided to commence the journey here and use the cycle from here to Malin Head as a "warm-up" for the main event.
I will be leaving from Howth on Saturday 11th. July and joining the main group at Day's Hotel in Ballymun, from where we will set out at 8.30 a.m. on our first day's cycle to Armagh. My reason for starting from Howth Head is to stretch the journey to 1,000 Kms.
The full detailed plan of our cycle can be viewed at:
http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/M2M
To view Gearoid's journal of his cycle from Istanbul to Listowel see:

To view my fundraising site, please see:

I will be updating this site and uploading photos as our journey progresses.
Eugene.

On the 28th March 2009 there will be a “One Year Visual Walk” for missing abducted Emily Nialyn Manion Machado, a 3 year old white, Hispanic little girl who was abducted and taken to Brazil by her non-custodial mother.
I am appealing to the public to help us in the search for Emily and to help us raise funds to get Emily brought home to Queen Creek, Arizona with her father where she belongs. If anyone would like to donate to help bring Emily home then please email me on michael@bringemilymachadohome.com or visit www.BringEmilyMachadoHome.com for more details.
I will be taking part in a cycle from Malin Head in Donegal to Mizen Head in Cork (396 miles) in July and raising sponsorship for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin. Please visit my website at http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org and click on the Malin to Mizen link at the top of the page.
Many thanks,
Eugene.
