- Me, Myself, and I
- LYT has been running in Lochside Theatre, Castle Douglas, since 1997. We meet (almost) every Sunday from 6-8pm for drama workshops and rehearsals. Membership is open to anyone from S1 upwards. We currenly have around 30 regular members aged 10-17.
We produce approx 2-3 plays per year, including the Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA) One-Act Play Festival. Recent productions have included 'My Favourite Mannequin' and 'Rain on Me' (both entries in the 2008 Festival) & 'Romeo & Juliet'. Most of our plays are premieres of those written by Mark Rees, our original Director, although we have turned our hand to Shakespeare & others!
Our next productions will be 'Dirk Smirk' plus a smaller production on 28th Oct in Lochside Theatre
For more information on LYT please leave a comment, go to www.lochsidetheatre.co.uk or contact Gill Williams or Chris McIntyre via the contact details on the right ----->

- USE THIS PAGE TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH GILL/CHRIS, FIND OUT WHAT'S HAPPENING, WHEN WE'RE RE-GROUPING AFTER HOLIDAYS, AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT MIGHT BE USEFUL. We figured it might be easier than email, given how often you lot check it...
- UPCOMING EVENTS
- 'Dirk Smirk' plus a smaller production, 28th October Lochside Theatre, Castle Douglas. Tickets available from the box office. Rehearsals begin at the Theatre at 6pm on Sunday 16th August.
- Who's in Charge?!
- LYT was started by Mark & Mhairi Rees way back in 1997, and they've been in charge (rather successfully i might add) ever since. Sadly Mark left us in March 2008 to work at Hull Truck theatre (www.hulltruck.co.uk) & taken Mhairi with him, and they have left LYT in the safe (?) hands of Gill Williams, ex-youth theatre members-come-assistants Laura Hill & Rebecca Potts and Chris McIntrye. Becca will be leaving us this summer though to follow her dream and study Drama at uni... Good luck Becca!!

- In November 2007, Lochside Theatre hosted the first ever SCDA Western Division Youth Drama Weekend. Members from LYT, Greenock Players, Thistle Theatre Company and Stranraer Drama Club Juniors came together for a weekend of workshops and improvisation to devise their own piece of drama based upon the themes of 'Romeo & Juliet'. You can see from the pictures that everyone had a great weekend and produced some excellent drama.

CHANGE TO YT CALENDAR
We have changes to our meeting times; in the future we will not be meeting throughout the summer months.
We are going to focus on working towards productions and consequently the calendar will be as follows...........
We will close with a farewell to several of our senior members on Sunday 31st May. This will be at the theatre from 6 - 8pm.
The Youth Theatre will then meet next on Sunday 16th August at the theatre at the normal time of 6pm. This meeting will be to hold auditions for, and then cast, the play "Dirk Smirk". We will then work on this play and a shorter play or review and the production will be on October 28th (Wednesday). We will hold technical and dress rehearsals from Sunday 25th through to Tuesday 27th, with the performance, as stated, on Wednesday 28th October. Yes, we will be having a break for the October holidays. We will then "shut down" until January, although Youth Theatre members will be encouraged to join the Panto cast.
From January we will be meeting to rehearse the play/plays that will go forward in the One Act Play Festival at the end of February and we will finish with a fund raising evening at the Easter holidays.
In effect the Youth Theatre will meet on Sunday evenings from 6-8pm at the theatre from August - end October and then January - Easter.
We look forward to any interested young people who are in S1 -S6 joining us at Lochside Theatre.
For further information please phone Jill on 01556502244 or contact Jill, Chris or Alison through the theatre.

Alan Gordon70 weeks agoHey you must be a total mind reader. I'm really interested in writing for a company and the youth theatre did loads for me so I'd love to help them out. I was going to give you an email actually. I've been working on a youth play but I don't think it's appropriate. If ytou could send me an email we could get chatting and throw some ideas about. Don't know how the guys would feel about it but I could come one Sunday and talk with them abou tthe kins of play they would be interested in being in. Let them have some control over whart will no doubt take over their lives for three months. Ahm, those were the days. Just want you all to know I'm really onterested so get in touch please. My email is svend43@hotmail.com.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi,
Just to say looking forward to seeing you all on 27th April.
and as Laura has already said please let us know if you are unable to be in Rain on Me as will need to look at the casting again.
It's a great opportunity to do the play again without all the festival pressure so it should be a lot of fun!
see you all then,
Mhairi
