- Motto
- campaign to obtain '.sco' domain for Scottish websites
- Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
- Join the campaign to obtain a ".sco" top-level domain from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Help give Scotland's distinct culture and identity a place on the internet. Inspired by the successful puntCAT campaign, which saw Catalonia successfully obtain a ".cat" for Catalan websites, dotSCO aims to apply to ICANN in Autumn of this year for our own domain. A parallel campaign in Wales to obtain ".cym" has gained the backing of Welsh Assembly members, and we are aiming for the same gesture of the support from the Scottish Parliament. What can you do? Firstly, you can sign the petition here - http://epetitions.scottish.parliamen... and tell all your friends to do the same. Secondly, you can visit www.dotsco.org - there's a letter you can send to your MSP asking them to back the campaign. Fill in the blanks and you can lobby them in 3 easy steps.
We need as many people as possible to show their support, so join us!

petition up at Public Petitions Committee
The petition put into the Parliament closed at the beginning of May, and last week appeared before the petitions committee. I went down to witness the proceedings, as we weren't allowed to go before the committee to give evidence. Christine Grahame MSP spoke for us (as she's allowed to demand to speak to them) and put across our case very well. The Committee agreed to write to the Ministers to seek their views.
We plan to meet with Government Ministers in due course to push the case0 komentarzy 546 dni

petition launched
Petition was launched in Parliament on Wednesday. There's been a lot of support so far. A lot of people involved since the start of the campaign in 2005 have come forward with loads of helpful info. We're planning to send a briefing to MSPs, outlining the technical and cultural case for obtaining dotSCO. ICANN are very funny about these applications - if they suspect it's being used for political reasons, they'll run a mile. We will be pushing the cultural angle, obviously, and hope to obtain cross-party support.
For and idea of what we aspire to in the near future, check out our Celtic cousins' campaign in Wales www.dotcym.org - they're a bit further down the road, but have the one thing that dotSCO needs most - momentum.0 komentarzy 635 dni
