  • PORIRUA REGIONAL FINAL!!

    Kiaoracations e te iwi!!

    Mana College was hosting us for the Porirua regional final last Saturday and I just wanna give a big shout out to Roni, Jim and the students for making us feel so welcome :D :D

    Even though we had over a dozen bands enter for the region this year only 6 were able to make it on the day so we changed it up a bit in terms of how we ran the show... we had our soundchecks from 3pm till bout 4.30 and the comp started at 5.30pm.

    Small but perfectly formed whanau.

    Judges on the night were Ngaire Coley and Tyna Keelan and both of them were totally blown away by the range of skill, talent and enthusiasm that the rangatahi brought to the stage - ka mau te wehi!! Our MC, Ria Hall, did an amazing job, had a great time and is reeeeaally looking forward to checking out the Top6 on stage next month :O :D :P :P

    So, you guys are probably keen to know who took out the prizes eh? Here are the results below;

    1st place: Te Paamu from Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o te Rito
    2nd equal: Tone Def from Aotea College and MC ALAH from Mana College
    APRA Best Song Award: Yr 12 & 13 Music Class from Mana College for "It's Just The Way It Is"
    Smokefree Mana Wahine: Mejic Paora, lead vocals for Te Paamu, TKKM o te Rito
    Smokefree Best Vocals: MC ALAH from Mana College
    YPT Native Language: Te Paamu from TKKM o te Rito
    YPT Stage Image: Tone Def from Aotea College

    Congratulations to ALL of the bands that took the stage, regardless of whether you took prizes or not. The fact you're out there doing what you love and making it happen is the main thing and please remember that this competition is only a very small part of the rest of your lives making music ok??

    To those that made the Top2, KEEP REHEARSING OK??? Good luck for Top6 judging and don't be shy to drop us a line with any patai you have alright??

    Take care guys, will update our page soon with the pics
