Big changes to Bebo Brides Blog
Some of you may have seen past blog articles and I am sure most of you have seen my constant promises that more are on the way. There are a few reasons why up until now these promised have gone unfulfilled. Ill health and time restrictions on me personally is I confess one reason but another BIG reason is that I have always felt resticted by bebo's 'blog' I think when it comes to wedding articles pictures and video and audio are important because what we are talking about is in large part the planning of the these very things for your wedding.
So, getting to the point, I have decided to have a trial run at setting up an external blog where I will publish articles complete with all the elements that I can't do here. I have set it up at wordpress and you can find it at http://bebobrides.wordpress.com/ to the best of my knowledge there is an option to subscribe to the blog via RSS so feel free to use that, however I do intend to publish the links to new blogs at wordpress here in this blog so that those of you who don't have wordpress accounts can also comment on it and add more ideas etc. What I am really trying to achieve here is a free interactive wedding magazine for you.
I am at this very moment working on an article on Autumn themed weddings and hope it will be ready soon. I made an appeal to people the other day who have had or are planning Autumn weddings and a few of you responded in the comments and I am very grateful - but if you did respond in comments I CANNOT respond to you! Please please please - if anyone would like to contribute their experiences, thoughts and ideas to this article then please email be at bebo_brides@yahoo.co.uk. If you are worried about emailing me then please don't! I really am just someone who started making bebo skins for brides. I have no commerical connections (I am unemployed!!) and will delete your email once I have responded to it! I DO NOT pass on email addresses. All I ask is a few moments of your time! PLEASE!!!!!

Help fill up our lifestory!!
We are now using the new 2.0 format skin!! This means we now have a lifeline - and since here at bebo brides you are our life we are gonna ask you to add to it!!!
We would like to add your hen party's, weddings and wedding anniversarys to it.
All you have to do is ...
for weddings and hen parties send your pictures to the photostream as usual! Then when they are in the albums go in and leave a comment with the date of your wedding/hen party and details like where it was etc. I will then add all this to the lifestory for you
for anniversarys add the photo to comments and again be sure to tell us the date, which anniversary it was and how and where you celebrated it!
I have added my friend Rebeccas wedding as an excample! (I hope she doesn't mind ... I probably should have asked first! Oh well! lmao!!!) if you click on it you will see the details etc.

Bebo Brides Guide to Favors.
Hey! Welcome to the latest Bebo Brides article. I am tackling a rather large topic this time – and that is wedding favors. This is a long one so you are going to have to press view all to read the entire thing. If you have any questions or if you want to tell us about your wedding favors leave a comment on this blog.
Let’s start with a brief introduction to wedding favors.
Wedding favors are small gifts given to wedding guests to thank them for sharing in the wedding day. They are an increasingly popular feature of modern weddings but their origins trace back centuries and across the globe. It is believed that the tradition may have started in the 16th Century. The early wedding favors began as small fancy boxes, known by their French name of bonboniere. A bonboniere was fashioned of crystal, porcelain or gold and often encrusted with precious stones. The delicate boxes were meant to hold bonbons or other confectionery delicacies, at a time when sugar was quite expensive. Sugar was also highly valued by all, as it was believed to have medicinal benefits. By the time the wedding favor had reached the 19th Century, high society weddings they had transformed into gloves and scarves and now they have transformed into a massive selection of random, intimate and personal gifts that span all price ranges. High society weddings still involve extravagant gifts but most of us settle with smaller gifts. Favors are diverse – different cultures and social classes tend to give different gifts but today the most traditional and widely used gift is five sugar coated almonds. These aren’t just tasty and cost effective favors but also are symbolic – they stand for health, wealth, fertility, happiness and long-life. Some people now avoid almonds (especially due to the increase in people with nut allergies) and use five other pieces of confectionary instead. The story of why almonds where used is interesting though. It is believed that almonds are used because of the Greek legend of Demophon. Demophon fell in love with a Phyllis, a Tracian princess. Their wedding was delayed when her father died and she had to go to Athens for the funeral. They planned to meet afterwards but he was held back and arrived three months late, by which time she convinced herself he wasn’t coming and hung herself. Touched by her loved the Gods turned her into an almond tree. Demophon offered a sacrifice to the tree and declared his undying love. In return the tree blossomed and from there impetuous youth and undying love became symbolized by the almond. Also in connection with almonds Pliny advised in 77AD that five almonds could prevent drunkenness – which therefore might make it an ideal gift at some weddings. Ha ha ha!
Favors in the modern wedding can be a very important part of the day. They can help tie in themes and decorate tables and the importance of them really shouldn’t be overlooked!
In this blog I will discuss quite a few ideas for favors, and there will be more concentrated looks at favors (making them yourself and for themed weddings) in later blogs, but it is only meant as a starting point for you all. Try and be creative. Don’t be afraid to use the more commonly used favors if that is what you wish, but also don’t be afraid to put your own twist on these traditional gifts. If you are having a themed wedding, consider having a favor that will match it. Probably the best advice that Bebo brides can give you, and this is something we would advice you for all aspects of the wedding planning process, is to have something that reflects you and your partners personality, don’t give out mini card sets if you have never played cards in your life. Do something that will make people think about you when they look at it after the day! Lol!

BBC in search of young brides and grooms
