About Me

Tagline
Wellcome
Me, Myself, and I
When I was 10 years old, my father took me to a public meeting to meet Jack Lynch then Minister for Industry and Commerce, he stopped and talked with me and gave me a shilling. I was sure I had just met the most respected man in the world.

Then, on my senior years at School, I visited Dail Éireann for the first time. Again, Mr. Lynch found time for to talk to me. He wrote me a nice letter, which now hangs in my office in my home.
I am sure those two experiences had something to do with my volunteering to work for Fianna Fail in the 70s. Jack Lynch inspired a generation of young Irish people to become active in government and politics. I was one of those. I am proud to serve today in that same Dail seat witch was once held by Jack Lynch.

  • Seamus Brennan RIP

Seamus Brennan was a great friend and an outstanding parliamentarian. As a Galway native he appreciated the needs of the West of Ireland and I had a great rapport with him. When I entered Dail Eireann in 1997 he gave me good advice and encouragement. His organisational skills were exceptional and he brought these extraordinary abilities to the job of General Secretary of Fianna Fail. A reforming Minister, Seamus was a special man and will be sadly missed

  • Dr Patrick Hillery

It is with great sadness that i learned of the death of former President of Ireland Dr. Patrick Hillery following a short illness.

Dr. Hillery, originally from Spanish Point, Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, was first elected to Dáil Éireann for the constituency of Clare in 1951. He was appointed Minister for Education by Sean Lemass in 1959 and held this portfolio until 1965 when he was appointed Minister for Industry and Commerce. In 1966 Dr. Hillery moved to the Department of Labour, where he served as Minister until 1969. Appointed by Taoiseach Jack Lynch as Minister for External Affairs in 1969, he stewarded Irish negotiation and entry into the European Economic Community in 1973. On appointment as a European Commissioner in 1973, Dr. Hillery resigned from Dáil Éireann. He was appointed as a Vice President of the Commission. Following a successful term in Brussels, Dr. Hillery succeeded Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh as President of Ireland on 3rd December 1976. He served two seven year terms as President and retired from public life in 1990.

Paddy Hillery was an innovative and enterprising public office holder, who was part of a generation of Irish politicians who laid the foundations of future prosperity. His pioneering work in the Department of Education made possible the introduction of free post primary education in 1966. Paddy Hillery paved the way for Irish entry into the EEC and maintained a deep commitment to European integration. His affinity and love for Co. Clare was enduring.

  • Save The Tallyman
    Save The Tallyman

Hi Noel, please support our campaign! In February 2008 North Tipperary Ógra Fianna Fáil passed a motion at the National Fianna Fáil Youth Conference, held in Tullamore. "Motion No. 42. Ógra calls on the government to retain the current pen-and-paper voting process. Proposed by: North Tipperary Ógra." That was to call on the 2008 National Youth Conference to pass our motion and lead the campaign to 'Save the Tallyman'. The 'Save the Tallyman' Campaign aims to maintain the current voting system of pencil and ballot paper and to dispose of the costly electronic voting machines. Mentioned on 'The Right Hook' on Newstalk 106-108FM and on the Marian Finucane Show on RTÉ Radio 1. Please read our page and watch our video at the National Youth Conference for more information on our campaign. Remember 'Save the Tallyman'!
