What Can I say...I am of the Nisga’a, Tlingit, and Tsimshian Nations. My true name is “Goothl Ts’imilx (The Heart of the Beaver Lodge)”. My clans are the Beaver / Eagle.
I'm a carver/Artist and it has taken me all over the world. I love what I do!!

I have two Wonderful sons, Michael Daniel age 16 and Nickolys age 10. I love them so much!!
And I have my Family and my Naks Miss Mique'l....Life is Great!! Mique'l and I co-lead a dance group, The Git Hayetsk Dancers in Vancouver, BC.

    Just wanted to share this with you all. The book that Mique'l has contributed to is coming out in July 08, pre-order sales are already happening through amazon.com here is the link:

    The name of Mique'l's article is: Memories of Fire and Glass: B.A. Haldane, 19th Century Tsimshian Photographer

    Normally the book retails for $27.50 but through pre-sales it is going for $18.15.

    I just wanted to share this great news with you all, I am so Proud of Mique'l and her accomplishments. The article that she has contributed to this book gives the world a history from the perspective of those who lived it (Alaskan Tsimshian) rather then the white missionary's. I hope you get a chance to get your hands on this book. A great way to start your collection of writings but a brilliant Tsimshian Historian Mique'l Askren.

    Wow the sun is blazing and the sky is blue as ever, what better way could we start the week? hehe My name is Roxane Alec and I'm from Lake Babine Nation. I took pics of your dance group at Douglas College and again at the Art Gallery. I love what you guys do, and how you're teaching the young people. Awesome!!     Do you think that it is at all possible for you to draw me a tattoo.
    If not, Michael said that he will draw one for me.
    I just thought it would be cool to get you to draw me one.
    I love your art and your work. I mean I have the ability to draw one myself, but I dont want to walk around with my own work on my back.

    hey mike how are you doing? i'm so thankful for the groups contribution for us to get here. i wouldn't be the same if we couldn't make it. the feast was awesome. i couldn't keep my bearrings when i walked into the fishermans hall. i was soooo happy to see all of my relatives. it took us about 16 hours of driving too get home, but i slept for 2 hours the night before so i spent the night in P.G. at my friends house. so far the trip was awesome. but thanks for being so kind to us and we hope u guys are doing well down there. ttyl.

    Welcome Feast Friday February 22, 2008 - Ladies come out a set a Table & serve our guests

    Cultural Dancing - Saturday February 23, 2008 - So far we have 3 Dance Groups confirmed, waiting to hear from 3 more dance groups. This all starts early and ends early; so we can go out to celebrate other ways as well.

    p.s. The Git'Ts'amiks Cultural Dancers are also in the Chinese New Year Parade - come out and support your Fellow Nisga'a. :)

    I am sure you are proud of young Michael's wrestling accomplishments! I know I am. He is good at it and I am so glad he found this to keep himself involved with school and also for his self-esteem. He is a fine young man and I pray he will stay on the path towards a positive future.
