O mnie

Motto
For all with a love of whose line.
Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
Whose line is it anyway was one of the best programmes on TV and the UK and the US shows collectively ran for 18 years. The UK version was on TV from 1988 to 1998, whereas the US version ran from 1998 to 2006. Recently the old shows have been shown on TV, which has created a new following of fans to the show.

This group is for fans of both the UK and the US version of the show, although I don't know that much about the US version.

  • New Video

I've uploaded a new video, and it's from the season 1 compilation 1.

I uploaded it because of the Different Games, which is the first one. It is absolutly brilliant, and completely funny. You have to watch it.

  • Profiles

    Presenters
    Clive Anderson
The qualified barrister became the presenter of the UK version of whose line is it anyway. He was a target for bald jokes during much of the series. Not only that he had some famous feuds with Tony Slattery and also Greg Proops. On a couple of occasions during Party Quirks Tony flipped out at Clive Anderson, once being when he told him to ‘f*** off’ and the other where he claimed ‘that he was going to get slapped.’ His feuds with Greg Proops were less strained, but Greg always insisted that he would have the last word.

    Drew Carey
Drew Carey presented the US version of whose line. He is a successful standup comedian and sitcom performer, Carey had an instant rapport with several cast members as they had worked together on The Drew Carey Show. As a result, he was frequently the butt of jokes about having two shows and being filthy rich (among other things, such as being overweight). Carey was also somewhat handicapped by the fact that his surname rhymes with "scary" and "hairy", which tended to provide an instant rhyme in Hoedown or other musical games. When the show was pitched in America, the ABC executives didn’t want to have Ryan and Colin as they were too old, but Drew successfully fought them and they became the contestants who were on the show the most.

    Memorable Contestants
    Wayne Brady
Having made a couple appearances near the end of the British edition, Wayne became a regular on the American edition (along with Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles), taking charge of most of the singing games. Wayne also had an uncanny talent for physical comedy, being able to dance and leap around on cue.
Wayne's greatest talent, however, was his ability to perform dead-on musical impressions of other singers. Drew Carey (in Song Styles), as well as Colin and Ryan (in Greatest Hits and Telethon) were able to give him a wide range of musical styles to sing in, all of which were carried off with great aplomb.
Whether it was lying on top of the piano, a la Eartha Kitt; performing a leg-pumping impression of Tina Turner, or even adopting a Santana impression for the song "Invading Peru For The Hell Of It" (to say nothing of his song based entirely around sound effects), Wayne's singing was the major aspect of his appearances on the show.

    Steve Frost
Very tall and very loud, Steve was particularly talented at physical games such as Old Job New Job, especially where the "old job" was a trade. Steve was always smiling and clearly enjoyed his time on the show. He stands at 6 foot 5 inches tall, and one of his most notable characteristics are his large eyebrows.
His verbal talents were perhaps a little more suspect, including his appearance in Number of Words in the Mutiny on the Bounty, where he seemed to take the attitude that the object of the game was to stop after saying the relevant number of words, rather than making sense (Clive Anderson made considerable mileage out of this). Of course, he did contribute Colin Mochrie's memorable Superheroes persona of "No Need To Help, Leave Straight Away Man".
It was with Hoedowns, that Steve really demonstrated his talents, although these were particularly dubious. Simply put, he was unable to rhyme the final line without making no sense, often looking very surprised at his own nonsense lines.

    Josie Lawrence
Josie Lawrence was a regular performer on the British version of Whose Line, though she made two appearances on the American edition.
A member of the Comedy Store Players, Josie was the first female to regularly perform on Whose Line. A terrific singer in games such as Song Styles and Psychiatrist, she also excelled in non-musical games such as Film And Theatre Styles and Party Quirks.
There seemed to be some pressure to include a woman in the cast which led to some casting decisions that probably wouldn't have otherwise happened of comediennes who didn't fit in. This app

  • Whose line games from the UK version

This usually included just one contestant, and they had to advertise a certain product (which was usually relatively vague), and they would have to incorporate the music in the background into the product.

    Animals
This game was where the contestants had to act out a soap opera, but as animals instead of humans. One of the most famous ones was where Ryan, Greg and Colin had to act like hamsters.

    Authors
This involved all four performers, the audience would determine the title of a story and then the contestants would do the story in the style of their author. Contestants such as Stephen Fry and John Sessions generally picked relatively sensible suggestions such as Virginia Woolf, Charles Dickins and J.R.R. Tolkein.
But the most interesting literary styles were adopted by Tony Slattery, who went for options such as mistranslated European Porn, the Rhyming couplets of Rupert Bear and a sunday colour supplement gadget catalogue.

    Backwards Scene
This was where the contestants had to play a scene backwards, so therefore they had to start at the end of the scene and work to what the start of the scene was. It was relatively challenging for them, and caused a good few laughs.

    Bartender
This game was where a contestant would play the bartender and another would come in and sing their problems to them in a certain style. It was playing in both versions of whose line, but it made more appearences in the UK version. One of the most memorable was where Tony Slattery had to sing about how he was in love with an inflatable pig, and the expression of Greg Proops in the background whilst Slattery was singing.

    Changing Emotions
This usually involved two or three props, and whoever was holding a specific prop would have to convey the emotion that went with the prop. For example on one occassion the contestant holding an axe had to convey the emotion of anger.

    Courtroom scene
As can be gathered by the name, this game imitated a courtroom. There would be a crime, which would be chosen by the audience, and the contestants would have to try and work out who done the crime. This meant there was one person as the judge, one as the prosecutor, and two were witnesses. One infamous line of this game was by Colin who claimed ‘this courtroom is a Mochrie.’

    Credit reading
Technically it wasn’t a game in whose line. This was where the winner, or winners, of the show would read the credits in the style of Clive Anderson’s choosing. A couple of the best credits readings included Greg, Ryan and Colin reading the credits in the style of Tony Slattery, as Tony was the only one who hadn’t won that day on the show. The other was where Tony had to read the credits in the style of a drunk Aussie soap star, and instead he just pretended to fall unconscious onto the floor.

    Film and Theatre styles
The game starts with the audience being asked for suggestions for film and theatre genres, many of the styles were very odd, for example cable shopping network and also the Clangers. The two contestants then are given a scene and they have to act the scene out, incorporating the styles when they are called out. On some occasions the contestants go off the mark, this was mainly in one scene between Paul Merton and Tony Slattery where Paul was taking it too seriously, and they ended up lapsing into personal abuse.

    Film Dub
This is where the contestants are given an old film with the sound removed, and they have to provide a new soundtrack to the film, which is about the scene that the presenter has given them. The main contestants to play film dub are Colin, Ryan and Greg.

    Film trailer
The game includes all four contestants. One would be the narrator, and this was usually played by Greg Proops, and the others would act out what he was saying for the film trailer. The most memorable was when it was Colin, Ryan, Greg and Tony, and Tony S
