Yet again the BBC have succeeded in producing the biggest pile of wank available.

The families have no REAL intention of moving, they just decide on a whim to get a free hol. They do zero research (as proved by "I'd didn't realise it was such a long flight" "the seasons are different here" and "it rains here too, I wanted sun all the time" - sheer bloody ignorance) and expect a move will just solve their problems, well it won't. Immigration isn't easy but typical Brits watch this programme, think it's easy, jump on the band wagon and tear the arse out of the thing spoiling it for genuine people, typically British as shown in the property market at the minute.
They only ever focus on 2 cities - Christchurch (because it's as English as you can get without being there, (that would be torture) and Auckland, because the majority of the population is there. I won't complain about that because they stay away from the real beauty areas which I want to go.
They show videos at the end crying their eyes out at msgs from family/friends, I mean please, they aren't even there a week, how would they do a month/year/decade?
Perhaps I'm biast as I only watch the NZ episodes but I can't remember one family that actually moved or wanted to.

Give GENUINE families a chance, you're just wasting our TV licence fee.

Ok, so I've seen a few things of t'internet that DJ's have written about their experiences. So I thought I'd write my own. I'd like other DJ's to have a gander as I'm sure they've come across these situations. I'll just add that a small number of guests at functions fit the profiles mentioned below, 95% of people are grand.

At the start of the night there's less people on the drink so not much hassle there.
Incidentally it's never the client that gives trouble, just the guest's who don't pay a cent.

1. Punter "Have you got (insert song here)"
Dj "Yeah"
Punter "Can you put it on NOW"
Dj "no, because I've either got another song cued or it doesn't suit the type of
music that's being played right now, and will clear the floor or current guests, but I will play it later."
Punter "But I want it now."

2. Punter "have you got (insert song here)"
Dj "No sorry either (1) it hasn't been released yet or (2) I don't carry it"
Punter (1)"I've got it on computer"
Punter (2) "you're shit"
Dj (1) "In that case you have an illegal copy"
Dj (2) "I'm sorry but it's not possible for me to carry every song ever made so please refain from that language, chances are I'll have another song by that artist so I'll play that ."

3. At the all illusive 1.00/1.30am. "JUST ONE MORE."
If I had a pound for every time I got asked this.
20 mins before the end, any last requests are asked, if you don't ask then, I'm sorry but you missed your chance. When the bar closes do you get "one more drink?" Chances are no, so why should the disco be any different. If your DJ is purely professional they will stop at the pre-arranged time. If you go over and the venue manager ain't happy, chances are you won't be back. After all, the staff has been there all night including the DJ and do want to pack up and go home.
AND
It's never "just one more" one leads to another.
AND
It ain't on to threaten the DJ at the end of the night. Do drunk punters come into your work at closing time and demand you to work on, and would you take it?!

4. Punter "Can I speak on the mic?"
DJ " what are ya gonna say?"
Punter "(1) hello everyone (2) gonna sing"
DJ "(1) Everyone can see you, you don't need to say hello. (2) I don't do karaoke so essentially you're gonna shout over the original recording and destroy it for everyone else."
