- "The" Seki Ryu Zan is a long established Shotokan Karate Club based in Bangor Gwynedd.
A "Non Profit" making CLUB and NOT a business we pride ourselves on our high standard of "REAL" karate.
A member of Sensei Masao Kawasoe's WTKF, we are licenced and insured under the Welsh Karate Governing Body
We train in Gym1. The old Bangor Normal College Site between Upper Bangor and Menai Bridge. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.
Membership is FREE and new students are always MOST WELCOME.
Training only costs £2 for Juniors and £2.50 Adults.

At the Seki Ryu Zan (Mountain of the Red Dragon) we practise a style of karate called "Shotokan". Shotokan is the original form of Karate that was introduced into Japan from Okinawa by O'Sensei (Grand Master) Funakoshi. We are students of Sensei Masao Kawasoe, a graduate of the famous Japan Karate Association instructors class, who is in great demand all over the world, and we also regularly train with the world's top Japanese karate masters, such as Nishiyama, Ochi and Shirai to name just a few.
Our instructors are fully licenced and insured and are recognised by the governing body for karate and The Sports Council for Wales. We are part of a non-profit making organisation, called the Welsh Traditional Karate Federation, which forms part of Kawasoe Senseis' UKTKF and Nishiyama Senseis' ITKF; so all instructors teach voluntarily. Some of the instructors have been training at the Bangor University, George site Gym for over 30 years!
