- Welcome to the "You're A Star PLUS" website. I'm Sinead Kennedy and each week I'll be bringing you all the backstage gossip from behind the scenes out at the live shows in The Helix. I'll be talking to all our talented contestants as they're put through their paces each week and face the live vote.
Tune in every Saturday at 5.25pm on RTE 1 to find out who will stand up to the challenge and who will crumble under the pressure!!!

FINAL!!!
AND THE WINNER IS ………..LEANNE MOORE!! What a fantastic week end! Saturday night was the Semi Final of the competition and all of the girls were in flying form as they battled it out to secure their place in the Final on Sunday. Much to everyone’s surprise a tearful Sharon Condon had to kiss her You’re A Star dream good bye as she was bottom of the polls. Good luck Sharon we think you’re a true star!!
Sunday night saw Leanne, Deirdre and Robyn in the Final. The atmosphere in the live audience was electric. The production team pulled out all the stops with costumes, hair and make-up. It was a tense few seconds at the end of the main show as Brian announced that Deirdre would be the next to leave. She was in high spirits as she wished the remaining two the best of luck. Leanne and Robyn went straight to make-up to fix their mascara and dry up their tears of excitement! While Leanne was getting her hair done she was desperately listening to her walkman to learn the lyrics for her last song as she really didn’t think she would make it through to sing it…bless! The girls were very supportive of each other as they waiting to go on stage one last time. Robyn did a fantastic version of “Valerie” and Leanne sang “Lets Stay Together”. After what seemed like an eternity Brian delivered the result of the winner of You’re A Star 2008! Leanne Moore was visibly shocked and overwhelmed when Brian called out her name. She finished the show with “Piece My Heart” and struggled to get the words out as her friends and family stormed the stage to celebrate!
So there you have it You’re A Star is over and what journey it has been!! I reckon we’ll be seeing a lot more from the talent showcased on this series! Tune in one last time to You’re A Star Plus this Saturday where you’ll get to see all the past contestants the final interviews as they experienced the emotional rollercoaster that was the Final!

Okay my nerves can barely take it anymore!!! It was such a tough one to call on last night’s show. No one could hazard a guess as to who would be leaving the competition! All our acts were desperately trying to get through to the Semi Final this Saturday in the hopes of securing a place in the Grand Final on Sunday! We were also delighted to have Liz Mc Clarnon from Atomic Kitten over to sing her solo single “Woman In Love”, what a lovely lady! She was most impressed with the talent on the show, tune in this Saturday to watch her backstage interview.
At Results time the first names Brian called out were Robyn and Sharon which led everyone to think that they got the lowest votes….not so! Oh Brian you lil tricker, you nearly gave them heart attacks!! It was in fact our lovely Pat Fitz and Leanne Moore who faced the sing off. Pat gave an energetic performance of Queen’s “Somebody To Love” and Leanne charmed the audience with “Angel In The Morning” by Juice Newton. You could tell the judges were not expecting this particular duo to be in the bottom of the voting polls. Keith saved Leanne. Michelle saved Pat as she had said earlier that he bought his ticket into the Semi Final with his fantastic performance. It was left to Brendan to make the deciding verdict of who was to leave. Brendan seemed visibly perplexed as he tried to make the best decision he could. He decided that it was down to who he thought was the real star of the two, so he saved Leanne. He reckons the show has given her a raw deal until now, but she’s getting better and better each week. He enjoyed her performance and went into Leanne’s world and it was lovely….mmmm is it just my imagination or are his comments are getting more and more random??? Good Luck Pat you’ll be missed!!
So there you have it! Leanne, Deirdre, Sharon and Robyn will battle it out this week end to win You’re A Star!! I do believe this is the first time in the history of You’re A Star to have an all girl Final!! Will there be tears and tantrums? stay tuned!!!

Live Show 7 ….only a few more weeks left to the final, which means things are really heating up!!! Dave Browne formally from Picture House performed his new single “Queen Of many Things” on the result show. There were tears a plenty in the audience as our contestants awaited the verdict of the live vote!!
Sharon came to the stage looking like a fairy tale princess and sang with such gumption and passion. Her version of Mariah Carey’s “Anytime You Need A Friend” blew our live audience away. Brendan and Michelle erupted into a debate over pop music and Brendan stated that technically Sharon had a better voice than Robyn but that she uses her powers for bad and Robyn uses hers for good….mmmmm are we talking about superheroes now or what…I’m lost!! Michelle said that she attacks each song she sings but that it’s with passion not anger. Keith much preferred this week’s performance to last week; he said that he loves watching her perform.
Fauve decided to rock it up and show her diversity by singing Four Non Blonds “What’s Up!” Keith thought it was a great choice of song but was unsure about the guitar. Brendan who usually champions Fauve has some harsh notes to give. He described her performance as bad busking! Michelle said that she needs to be careful on the high notes as she tends to shout.
Fauve and Sharon both gave the performances of their lives in the Sing Off in attempt to get through to this Sunday’s show. The remaining contestants waiting hand in hand backstage as the judge’s gave their verdict. Brendan and Michelle both saved Sharon. Fauve was inspired by Mairead’s positive attitude last week and was ready to face her fate with grace and wished the remaining contestant all the best before heading out to the lobby to meet her legions of fans that waited in anticipation to see their star!
