The United States has the Kentucky Derby, The Middle East the Dubai World Cup, and we have The Galway Races. It hardly seems like six months ago since the hype of the 2009 Galway Races Summer Festival drifted through every village, town and county in Ireland.
And yet, here we are once again the time has come to set our sights on this year’s annual event. Whether you’re a horse enthusiast, a serial fashion addict or just looking for a fun day out, the Galway Races has something for everyone.
It's more than just the racing that brings people out: it's the air full of excitement, the whispering of gossip and good tips, the aroma of cooking food, the delightful sound of a pint pouring, champagne popping, and the sense of fortunes won and lost on the bet on a strong and sturdy steed.
