- Unprovoked attacks on other countries (or people), illogical thinking, the veto power of permanent members of the UN security council, Bureaucracy, legal fees.
- Scared Of
- America causing World-War-3, or China taking over the world, or the melting of the Greenland ice sheet, or the shutting down of the gulf stream. Or all of the above, which is the most likely outcome.

Eating GM food.
The problem with GM food is not its possible danger to human consumers.
The problem is that its resistant to pests and therefore could easily take over the ecosystem by out-competing the normal crops.
Worse, because pests would then be unable to eat the now dominant plant species, it would cause a population crash at the base of the food chain.
This could destroy the whole ecosystem.
This is not an exaggeration.

Bio-Diesel (PPO) and land use.
If all engines ran on rape seed oil we would indeed have to plant vast areas of land. But no more than we already use for un-economical grazing of EU subsidized cattle!
Plus, because plant oil is more economical the closer you are to the point of production, EU and US farmers wouldnt have to compete too heavily with African and Asian plant oil suppliers. So it would be safe to drop the trade barriers that are crippling the third world.
So HOW MUCH LAND WOULD WE NEED?
Well Every 3 Tonnes of seed will yield about 1000 litres of finished PPO
An average vehicle drives about 15,000 miles a year and uses about 1,500 litres of PPO or diesel. Lets say 2000 litres to be safe.
So each engine needs 6 Tonnes of seed.
EU average for spring rapeseed is 3.5 Tonnes/Hectare or Winter Rapeseed (5 T/Ha), lets say 3 tonnes/Ha to be safe.
So each engine needs 2 Hectares to run for a year.
It is estimated that there are approximately 600 million motor vehicles being driven on the streets of earth
So they would need 1200 million Hectares of planted rapeseed. (1,200,000,000 Ha)
Worldwide, livestock use roughly 3.4 billion hectares of grazing land (3,400,000,000) at present.
So just over a third of the land now used for grazing could be planted with rapeseed instead and run every vehicle on the planet.
And because the carbon released by burning Plant oil is the same amount it absorbed last year when it was growing, and will be absorbed by this years crop, it is carbon neutral.
And its only 5% less efficient than Diesel.
I dont understand why it hasnt taken off yet.
