The Term Celtic
There is great controversy surrounding this term for a variety of reasons. It is considered by some to be an inaccurate term to be applied to modern day peoples. However others believe there is sufficient evidence of a link between the ancient Celts and the new 'Celts'.
Organisations such as the Celtic Congress and the Celtic League use the definition that a 'celtic nation' is a nation with recent history of a traditional celtic language. By inference 'celts' is used to mean inhabitants of these nations. This linguistic based definition of celticity is used by a number pan-celtic organisations and writers.
Atlantic Celts, while bearing little genetic similarity to modern peoples occupying the so called 'Celtic Homelands' of central Europe, do share remarkable genetic markers with each other. However the term 'Celtic' does not constitute a racial grouping.
The terms 'celt' and 'celtic' are used (or misused) in a number of other ways. For example the description 'celtic music' is be used for traditional music from a celtic country or modern music romantically inspired by the culture of such nations.
For further discussion on this matter see the Wikipedia articles on the ancient Celts and modern Celts.

INDEPENDENCE DAY APRIL 6th
On the 6th of April 2008, Scots will gather in places all over the world to read aloud the Declaration of Arbroath and to declare their independence from the United Kingdom. We are in the process of co-ordinating events in Richmond, Virginia; Berlin; Ljubljana, Slovenija; Rennes, France and Perth, Australia as well as Shetland and Edinburgh. It is your's and every Scot's duty to be involved, to make a short vid of your reading and any photos which we will be using in a short documentary which will be made available on YouTube.
If you need any more info or whatever you can get back at any time but it does no harm to call in at http://www.bebo.com/saoralba for any updates or fresh ideas. Simplicity, clarity and true sentiment are the essentials here it can be just a 10-20 second reading of the Dec on a cheapy camera or a whole night of celebration with whoever you happen to be with, just be sure you forward your recordings.

Many people within Pan-Celtic groups have often talked about the level of unity that 6 free Celtic should have.
-Some have proposed that the 6 countries should remain independant but retain political links with one another (such as regular political visits,inter-celtic festivals etc etc)
-Others say that the 6 nations should form a "Celtic Union" along the lines of what the EU is.
-Another thought would be that they should form an alliance such as the scandinavians have
-Lastly, some argue that the Celtic nations should form something along the lines of an "United States of Celtic lands". Based on the USA(or yugoslavian) Model.
Any one have any strong ideas or suggestions on this matter

I can't believe this
read this in a local newspaper.
''Manx is listed as extinct in a new edition of the Atlas of the World's Languages in Danger produced by the UN's Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). ''
How dare they say that. I speak Manx, douse that mean I don’t exist? Also there is a Manx school up the road from me. I think the ''UNESCO'' should do more research before hand.
