I am a Society in University College Cork .
This Society meets up once a week to sing and work towards various events throughout the year e.g, our Christmas Concert 'Carols by Candlelight' and our trip to take part in an International competition (this year we'll either be going to Estonia or Budapest!). We are actually the best society on campus - it's been scientifically proven, so do check us out!

We meet every Tuesday at 7pm in the Geography Building. New members are always more than welcome.

They are fun, entertaining, have great music but are hard work
Sports
Competitive singing (is that a sport?), Dance offs, Karaoke Competitions
Scared Of
going out of tune, JR (poor Bobby), racists, perverts
Happiest When
singing in Choral on a Tuesday evening or in the pub following such an event enjoying refreshments of a liquid nature

    • Mamma Mia Sing-Along Cinema!

      UCC Choral Society is having a Sing-Along Cinema night on

      Wednesday 18th February
      8pm
      Boole 1

      Break out the platforms, sequins and feathers, because it'll be Mamma Mia all the way! Even if Abba isn't your thing, surely the sight of Meryl Streep doing the splits is enough to get you down to the Boole and singing along! God, I love Meryl Streep...

      There will be free Red Bull and Red Bull Cola, and a random bucket floating around the audience for any RAG week donations you would like to make. Bring any spare change you have and dump it in, it's all going to great causes! See you all on Wednesday.

      I didn't make any clever puns involving Abba song titles. I am quite pleased with my self-restraint.

      "And singing is one activity that has a proven ability to enhance mental health and counteract negative influences which often lead to depression and other mental health problems, says Mr.Howard.

      Choral singers all know at first hand the benefits of singing in choir. Singing together is fun; it gives a greater sense of confidence and well-being and not only provides a positive opportunity for self-expression but is a great social outlet, according to Liz Powell, CEO of the Association of Irish Choirs. "


      This is from a press release from Mental health Ireland who organised "The National Choral Singing Day" on the 10th of October .....which we missed! silly us!

      Just a quick comment to say Cork Pride is on May 24th 2009 until 1st June 2009. Currently we are looking for volunteers for all aspects of the Pride Week i.e.. Sports, Events, Fundraising, Parade Activities, etc.... We are also actively looking to hire a graphic designer who will be designing our template for both the programmes and the website which is currently under construction.

      Afters Tickets €25
      Entertainment on the night by Cork band FRED, Pat Fitz of You’re A Star and DJ Ed Callanan.

      The first 400 people in the queue for Afters tickets will get a coveted “Befores” ticket. This is a new innovation from the Commerce Society. The ticket allows the holder to gain entry to the hotel from 8:30pm where you will be treated to a Pink Champagne reception, free finger food buffet and early entertainment from Pat Fitz. And of course you get into the hotel two hours before the Afters, for the price of an Afters ticket!! Queue early to avoid disappointment!
