      Its been over 4 months since the last onslaught from the Global Virus camp so we've decided to treat you bass hungry kids with a very special night indeed!

      June 12th sees GV return to Masons, Magazine St, Derry with one of our biggest and baddest lineup's we've had yet, we hope you agree!

      We have an exclusive DJ set from the mighty I.D. (one half of Baobinga & I.D.) who will be making his Irish debut with us and we're chuffed to bits to have him over for this very special night.

      After a critically acclaimed album and many successful singles in breakbeat over the last few years, I.D. now pulls together fresh influences to create a brand new style, fusing dubstep, garage, jungle and breakbeats. Through productions and DJ sets, both solo and with cohorts such as Baobinga and dubstep star Reso, he shows how contrasting styles can come together within a framework of bass and beats.

      I.D.'s first release with Baobinga, "The Feeling" (Hardcore Beats, 2004), won single of the month in DJ Mag and Knowledge for its combination of breakbeats and speed garage, and was snapped up by Electronic Arts (EA Sports) for their two million selling 'FIFA Street 2' game.

      The next step in their musical evolution was the 'Big Monster' project on Fat Records, which launched in 2006 with the epic 'Rite Of Passage' and won instant acclaim from across the scene for the innovative use of emotive techno and house influences. It resulted in one of the biggest singles of the year - "The Machine", which was included on the Stanton Warriors' FabricLive CD

      2007 saw a stellar increase in the profile of this hardworking pair. Starting the year with ‘Hood Thang’ on Pure Filth, hammered by everyone from Rennie Pilgrem to Freq Nasty, they lit up floors with the house-inspired ‘Recognise’ and the Baltimore/Grime mash up that is ‘Jump Up Get Hype’ featuring Virus Syndicate – which has been on constant rotation on 1Xtra, as well as receiving plays on Radio 1 and across the world.

      This all served to raise the hype for the critically acclaimed album, 'Baobinga & I.D. present Big Monster'; album of the month in DJ mag, and 5/5 in IDJ. As well as this, Sam and Ed found time to complete the biggest remix of the year - the massive relick of Rico Tubbs’ ‘Knuckle Sandwich’, which became an immediate anthem.

      With a global release of the album, remixes for the Stanton Warriors and the mighty Lot49 label, and a tour of Australia, 2008 started off fast. I.D. then set about building his reputation as a solo producer – the massive 'Flay' on Tayo's Cool & Deadly label was followed a collaboration with rising star Reso on Smokin' Sessions, and a breakstep release on Passenger. With more releases coming up on Earwax, Passenger and Cool & Deadly, remixes of Ursula 1000 and The Body Snatchers, his arsenal of dubstep and breakstep is uniting scenes already, championed by players from Freq Nasty and Bassbin Twins to Caspa, TRG and Zed Bias.

      I.D.'s DJ sets are a blaze of styles from Breakstep to Dubstep, Ragga, Garage and Baltimore – a quickfire selection of dirty bass music that takes no prisoners. Gigs at legendary venues such as Fabric, The End in London, Glade Festival and sets worldwide from Prague to Perth are spreading this unique sound across the globe, and with it I.D.'s reputation as one of the most exciting DJ's around.

      One of the UK's biggest DJ's & Producer's confirmed for Global Virus @ masons on October 3rd


      Sam Simpson aka Baobinga, hailing from Manchester, is one of the most respected names in the ever evolving and innovative breakbeat scene and will be making his Irish debut at Global Virus, Masons venue, Derry on October 3rd.

      Baobing's has spent over two years jetting around the world, including stops at The End and Fabric in London, 1015 in San Francisco, Baby Face in China and Space in Ibiza, crafting his unmistakeable trademark style, rooted in the rhythms of Techno & Breakbeat (in a way only a drummer would know how) yet still able to explore the deeper, more melodic side of electronic music.

      Sam's outstanding work includes a host of releases, under various alter ego's such as 'Baobinga & I.D' (Fat! Records), 'Pablo Beatz' (Guerrilla Tactics) and the new 'Body Snatchers' project with 30Hz , which has produced some outstanding remixes for likes of The Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Tayo (Radio 1) Rico Tubbs and Dylan Rhymes. Also, with constant support coming from the Plump DJs, Rennie Pilgrem, The Stanton Warriors and General Midi, the Baobinga magic really does start to speak for itself.

      Friday 19th September sees Global Virus celebrates its 5th Birthday in Masons lounge,for this very special event GV are very pleased to bring you another bass and breaks fuelled session with top tearout breaks production act Entity.

      Entity duo Bill Brooks and Dave Evans both based in Liverpool make their Irish debut at Global Virus hot on the heels of a string of massive breaks and drum n bass releases on some of the scenes most respected labels.Their recipe of punchy beats, booming and tearing bass and heavy melodic sounds, are enough to send any dancefloor into kaos as has been proved earlier in the year when Bill Brooks performed at Global Virus under his alter ego Slim Blue.

      This will event will also see Entity whizzkid Dave ,combine samples and loops into the Entity set via software he built himself from his laptop.Entity are very excited about bringing their live show to Ireland for the first time as are Global Virus residents Hago and Jonny Boy who will perform warm up duties bringing you the hottest breakbeat and Hardcore Breaks tunes this side of the water.

      Global Virus are also very pleased to announce that Micro Error resident Darren Allen will kick start the night with set combining abstract electronica with a bit of dubstep thrown into the mix,this will also be first of a kind for Darren who is widely known throughout Ireland for his Glitchy House and Techno sets,this promises to be another set that will go down very well with the Global Virus faithful.

      Doors for this event open at 9pm and admission is £5 , early arrival is advised for extreme musical pleasure,there will also be a free mix cd upon entry.
