You could look at this subject from many different angles, so I'll just look at one at a time. For most of us, perticuarly in this western society, we have the luxury of choice. For most it is perfectly feasably to live a completly healthy and enjoyable life without eating meat. So why do so many of us choose 2? Conditioning and sense desire. We have all been conditioned to think it is acceptable to do so, and its ok to kill millions of animals simply for out enjoyment. That maybe animals don't have feelings, maybe they don't have souls? This is an ignorant speculation used to justfy and facilitate these horrable acts. First ya gotta understand we are all living entities inhabiting this earth and we are NOT THAT DIFFERENT (I will go into this further in another blog). We are all striving for happieness in one way or another, and we all feel pain and suffering. You must realise that the choice to eat meat is a choice that causes the painful and horrific death of many millions of creatures solely for the selfish desire of a little pleasure and convienence. Is it right that a creature should suffer heavly and be killed for a little enjoyment? With a little compassion and understanding the answer is obvious.

Our Rightangle Triangle man, Pythagoras once said

"Oh, my fellow men, do not defile your bodies with sinful foods. We have corn, we have apples bending down the branchs with their weight, and grapes swelling on the vines. There are sweet-flavored herbs, and vegetables which can be cooked and softened over fire, nor are you denied milk or thyme-scented honey. The earth affords a lavish supply of riches, innocent foods, and offers banquets that involve no bloodsheed or slaughter; only beasts satisfy their hunger with flesh, and not even all of those."

And then a Roman author, Plutarch, once wrote (this one is uber powerful).

"Can you really ask what reason Pythagoras had for abstinence from flesh? For my part I rather wonder both by what accident, and in what state of mind the first man touched his mouth to gore and brought his lips to the flesh of a dead creature, set forth tables of dead, stale bodies, and ventured to call food and nourishment the parts that had a little before bellowed and cried, moved and lived. How could eyes endure the slaughter when throats were slit and hides flayed and limbs torn from limb? How could his nose endure the stench? How was it that the pollution did not turn away his taste, which made contact with sores of others and sucked juices and serums from mortal wounds? It is certianly not lions or wolves that we eat out of self-defense; on the contrary, we ignore these and slaughter harmless, tame creatures without stings or teeth to harm us. For the sake of a little flesh we deprive them of sun, light, of duration of life to which they are entitled by birth and being!!!"
