- David Jon Gilmour was born on 6th March, 1946, in Grantchester Meadows, Cambridge. As the lead guitarist of Pink Floyd, he is by many considered one of the most influential guitarists on the rock stage. Right up to "The Dark Side of The Moon", Dave wrote his own songs, but from then up to "The Final Cut", Roger Waters wrote almost all the lyrics. Dave made up for it by producing some excellent guitar work, and production work on all those albums, most notably on the songs Shine On You Crazy Diamond (from "Wish You Were Here") and Comfortably Numb (from "The Wall"). He also did a large amount of the vocals. In the early 90s Gilmour divorced his wife Ginger. He now lives with his girl friend Polly Samson.

Legendary artistic endeavors begat legends! ALL of Floyd contributed to the whole! But wonderful frontman David and his superb guitar/vocal efforts on our listening behalf were & are thrilling!

When my dad was doing his Big O.E. in the UK he went to the Pink Floyd concert PULSE in the 90's
He said it was the best concert he had ever gone to the Lights espically, The Vocals, The sound everything was Great. Even the Inflatable pig!
I Like Davids solo work. Easy as songs to learn espically his chords. Also i love that Black Fender Stratocaster with the Dark side of the Moon Logo in it!
Thats cool.
Tried to Buy it of ebay 3 years ago but it went past my bid of $7,897. To bad i ended up buying a standard Les Paul.
But yeah Davids a Legend.
in my oppinion syd barrett is the best but im not saying gilmour isnt a legend cos he is fucking awesome
