  • Mr Tayto for the Late Late show??

    A few people have asked me if I’d be interested in taking over from Pat Kenny in the Late Late show hot seat. Naturally they want someone who has intelligence, charisma and is easy on the eye, so I can understand why I’m being mooted, although there is such a thing as too good looking and there’d be a fear that my staggering handsomeness may unsettle the guests. I mean Tom Cruise is notorious for not appearing with anyone who is better looking than him, so we’d never get him on the show for a start!

    Other than me, Miriam O’Callaghan (has hundreds of kids so should be able to handle the crowd), Gerry Ryan (although allowing your guests to speak is important in chat shows) and Joe Duffy (who will the housewives complain too every day if he takes it?) are hot favorites?

    Who would you have (other than me!)??

  • Paddys Day!!

    I hear that the folks over in Chicago turn the river green in honor of our national saint, Patrick, on his feast day. Apparently it’s a closely guarded secret as to how they do it, and they won’t even let us Irish know what the ingredients are. Then again, on looking at the Liffey the other day, I reckon it’s ‘green’ enough…


    It got me thinking though, I remember hearing that it’s a tradition that if you’re caught not wearing green on March 17th in the US, that people will ‘pinch’ you!


    Have we any weird Paddy’s day traditions around these parts?


    (Other than making ourselves ‘green’ with illness the next day)

  • Spud times for Irish Rugby

    I was always involved in sport when I was younger. Now admittedly, it usually tended to be involuntary and more often than not, I WAS the sport. But when you’re shaped a little like a rugby ball, that’s what happens I’m afraid. Still hasn’t turned me off it though, and just like all of you guys, I was hopping up and down like mad at the Ireland France game last weekend.

    Not since Jonny Logans terrific Eurovision hat-trick, have I been prouder to be Irish.

    And you know, I think we’re gonna win the Grand Slam this year.

    What do you guys think?
