Heya! I'm John what's UP!?!?! Born and currently residing in the den of atrocity that is Dumfries, Scotland, did a year long stint as an Edinburgh student but it turned sour, I like music, asian and indie cinema and molesting the elderly! Currently studying photography at the only centre of culture in Dumfries the George Street Art School, yep! Scratch that, I am now currently in possession of a full HND in the art of photography. Damn I'm good!!

Films

Big clattering collection of things really, from the classic vaults like Hichcocks 'Vertigo', some classic Carpenter ala 'The Thing', or 'Escape From New York', Park Chan Wooks Vengeance films ('Old Boy' and the sympathy films), wierd indie stuff like 'Brick', 'A Scanner Darkly', 'Memento', pretty much anything by David Lynch (particularly 'Blue Velvet'), cool Japanese cinema like 'Battle Royale', 'Versus', oh and absolutely ANYTHING by Takeshi Kitano, a lot of the Studio Ghibli collection, Vietnam flicks are awsome too particularly 'Apocalypse Now' and 'Jacobs Ladder', christ I can blather!

Games

Yeah I'm a gamer, I put my hands up, look down on it though and you can suck it, it's a verified art form nowadays. Well first and foremost there is the almighty, the absolute, the resolute work of art that is 'Final Fantasy VII', christ nothing is as compelling, absorbing or completely brilliant as this! Absolutely loved the sheer insanity that was 'Killer 7', 'Ico' and 'Shadow of the Colossus' are two of the most strikingly artistic games ever developed, 'Okami' is the only modern game which can break my top three ('Fantasy VII', 'Shenmue' being one and two respectively), everyone loves a bit of wartime philosiphising with 'Metal Gear Solid', no game will ever be as hectic as the classic Treasure shooter 'Gunstar Heroes', 'Zelda' pretty much kicks all kinds of ass, and 'Silent Hill 2' is the single most deep story based game I've ever come across, shit scary atmosphere to boot!

Heroes

First and straight up TAKESHI KITANO! Jesus the guy's a genius, anyone who watches 'Hana-Bi' and doesn't realise this is mentally deficient, love Mark Z. Danielewski as well, anyone who can write something as twisted yet cerebral as 'House of Leaves' has to leave some kind of mark on history. Loves me Thom Yorke as well!

Literature

I believe it or not can read! I especially enjoy the work of Mark Z Danielewiski such as House of Leaves and Only Revolutions, I also enjoy a bit of the classical literature such as Dantes The Divine Comedy, and of course a bit of the Orwell (1984!). Oh and of course the manliest book in existence - Real Ultimate Power The Official Ninja Handbook by Robert Hamburger where we learn of the Ninja's amazing ability to pop over 100 6 foot long boners simultaneaously!
