- Gok Wan (born 1974, Leicester, England, U.K.) is a British fashion consultant, author and television presenter of Anglo-Chinese heritage.
Gok Wan wanted to help women with their confidence.
After receiving his diploma in performing arts at the Charles Keene College of Further Education, Leicester, Gok went on to enroll at the Central School of Speech and Drama studying Drama and Education, although he did not complete the course. Following that, he began working as a session hair and make-up artist and soon after moved into fashion styling. He was 21 stone (294 lb) in his teenage years he confessed, "I was really fat." It was not until his late teens that he started slimming down.
In 2006, Gok was approached by Channel 4 and asked to present his own fashion show, How to Look Good Naked. In addition, he wrote a book to accompany the series, entitled How to Look Good Naked: Shop for Your Shape and Look Amazing!, that was published in April 2007.

What Gok Had to say about some of the X Factor contestants!
Gok Wan has defended The X Factor hopeful Laura White, after Simon Cowell said she needed to revamp her image.
Simon said on Saturday's show that Laura needs to change her style if she is to compete with the other singers, but Gok reckons she should stick with her current look.
"I think that Laura is gorgeous and she looks great," he said.
Gok said that Essex boy Austin and boy band JLS were the best styled out of The X Factor contestants.
"Austin looked great. I cant believe he went. JLS always look very cute. I loved their different colour jackets, I think they were quite sweet."
As well as Laura, Gok said he is backing Alexandra to win.

Gok Wan wanted to host the show to help woman regain their confidence because in his earky years he was early insecure with his body.
YOU won't catch Gok Wan groping a woman's boobs or reducing her to tears. His makeover show may go head-to-head with Trinny and Susannah's but he has no interest in being nasty to people.
Gok, 32, presenter of Channel 4's How To Look Good Naked, would rather empower women than laugh at their hopeless fashion sense.
"I'm a working stylist," Gok says. "I wouldn't be able to get booked with an A-list celebrity and say 'Right, your tits are too big, your arse is too big.' I'd never work with that artist again.
"Ninety-eight per cent of the time I have to be very diplomatic with the people I'm working with. Stylists are not bitches, we aren't horrible people.
"My job on Naked is to make it looks like they've had £10,000 of surgery. I have to get their confidence to a level where they can pull off the shoot at the end, where they're photographed naked, and make them feel wonderful and proud of what they've done.
