For more than five years, PETA has been pressuring fast-food chain KFC to stop the worst abuses of chickens, like scalding birds to death, slitting their throats while they're still conscious, and drugging and breeding them to grow so large that they cripple beneath their own weight.

Now PETA has scored a major victory and is ending its Kentucky Fried Cruelty boycott in Canada. The boycott will continue in other countries where KFC has restaurants, including the United Kingdom, until they follow KFC Canada's lead.

Following months of closed-door negotiations between PETA and KFC Canada (which is owned by a different company than KFC restaurants in other countries), we are thrilled to announce that KFC Canada has agreed to a historic new animal welfare plan that will dramatically improve the lives and deaths of millions of chickens killed for KFC Canada.

Q. are the ways those chickens are treated not illegal?

A. It seemes that this abuse is tolerated in the UK and US, however many claim that they are actually breaking international law. Its hard to tell - WE ALL KNOW IT'S WRONG THOUGH visit www.kfccruelty.co.uk and watch the video for proof.

Q. I still love eating chicken so why should I protest against kfc?

A. Its not about eating chicken! we are NOT trying to close down KFC, we are persuading them to adopt more ethical practices. 'controlled-atmosphere killing' - the least cruel form of poultry slaughter ever developed. KFC Canada is now doing this. Why can't we?

Q. Won't it cost too much?

A. KFC executives in the US admitted it would cost less than 2 cents per meal more. Thats what? even less than 2p

Q. Don't all fast food chains do this though?

A. No! most major fast food chains no longer treat animals like this, they stopped several years ago.

Q. Im still not convinced?

A. Think about the quality of the meat. Crippled, ill chickens = poor quality meat! why should YOU suffer from KFC's cruelty?
