Me, Myself, and I
About The Eastern Harps :

This traditonal/folk music group came together in 2002 to help one of their members, Molly, out with a drunken promise when he told a local prominent member of the gardai that he would get a trad band together for a soiree in the Garda club on Harrington Street.

After the 1st gig we thought we were done. Then a drunken man promised us cash to do it again. Sure there's nothing wrong with a few bob for singing songs so we agreed...

This has led us on a whirlwind journey across Ireland, Scotland, America and on one odd occasion to Belgium to play at an Irish festival.

We've played in:
Dublin(where we still play every Friday), Meath, Leitrim, Louth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Brussels, Brugges, New York, Chicago, Montana,Berlin, Dunoon Scotand.

See us play every Friday in Peadair Kearney's on Dame Street, Dublin @10pm

Johnboy - Guitarist, singer - Excellent rythmn guitarist with a great singing voice and range and has an overwhelming ability to whip a crowd into a frenzy. Legend has it that he was born with a thick, full beard.

Molly - Lead guitarist, singer, fiddle, mandolin, any other instrument he gets a hold of. Pure talent. Superb musician and singer. Adds the finesse to the band with intricate guitar and his harmonic voice.

Mono - Bodhran player. The heartbeat of the band. Steady rhythms and remarkable solos mark him out as a top bodhrán player. Has a good voice and he's not afraid to show it from time to time.

The Piper - Uileann Pipes, fiddle, whistles, and again, any instrument he can get a hold of including a Tanzanian one (don't ask). Another amazing musician with an ability to pick up any song or beat within seconds of hearing it.

Catsi - Concertina, bodhrán, singer - Highly talented concertina and bodhrán player. Recently he has also started playing the banjo. The traditional irish music guru of the band. Knows which songs work and which songs don't. Most powerful singing voice since Luke Kelly.

Mikey - "Baby Harp". A child prodigy on Whistle or Flute and an Apprentice Piper. His effortless style has injected the band with a youthful abandonment since his arrival in 2007.

  • The Kings Of Glasgow Town‏ (origional harp song)

Written in the aftermath of the harps first ever world tour which took place in glasgow in April 2005.

For three long days we drank like kings,
Thirty men with songs to sing,
To roam to glasgow so fair,
To make our mark and to smell the air.

In a darkened pub with the piper drinking,
Our thoughts of last night antics sinking,
With spirits up and whisky down,
    Irish men in scotlands town.

Stroll in late and give a smile,
The irish charm will last a while,
Above the limit and beside the stars,
For two wild nights we own this bar.

We sang our songs we sang them loud,
Our travel party did us proud,
They showed the meaning of one wild ride,
As our reels went roaring down the clyde.

We've done our stuff the lights turn on,
The crowd all call for one last song.
Its magic its mayhem its all in one.
We sing one more and then we're done.

The memories of this will last,
Even when our time has passed,
For three long days we drank them down,
We were the Kings of glasgow town.
