Peter Doherty (born March 12, 1979) is an English musician, artist and poet. He is currently the singer and songwriter of the band Babyshambles, and has briefly re-united with Carl Barât who was co-frontman and songwriter (along with Doherty) of The Libertines, with whom he first shot to fame. Since 2005, he has become well known to the public at large as a result of his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, his status amongst fans and his infamous rock and roll lifestyle. His drug use, arrests, and court appearances are frequently reported in the tabloid press.

  • Pete Doherty Jailed For 14 Weeks

    Pete Doherty has been jailed for 14 weeks for failing to turn up to probation hearings on time and drug use.

    Pete attended court in west london today where Judge Davinder Lachar sentanced him.

    Doherty is expected to serve one month under current rules but should he complete the full three and half months of his sentence he will not only miss a solo show at the Royal Albert Hall in London (April 26), but the Glastonbury (June 27-29) festival, which he is due to play.

    Pete has sincerley appologised to all of his fans and his royal albert hall gig will be delayed however the tickets will still be valid for the gig when it is decided

  • Pete Announces solo album

    Pete Doherty has started recording his debut solo album. =]

    As previously reported on NME.COM, the Babyshambles frontman has recorded a new track, 'Darksome Sea' with producer Jake Fior. Fior has since explained to NME.COM that the song will appear on Doherty's forthcoming solo album.

    "The recording is intended for Pete's solo project," Fior said. "He has asked me to make that record and I have agreed.

    The producer went on to reveal that Doherty's record will feature 'Cuckoo 1440' - a song originally demoed by Babyshambles in November 2006 - and "a group of Pete's tracks that haven't been finalised."
