Bout yeeee Shauna, how’s things???

Everything’s great here Jamie – really busy at the minute so that’s keeping me out of trouble.

At what age where you when you first got into dance music and at what age did this progress into hardstyle?

I was quite late getting into dance music – I was 17 at the time, my friends had started to go to The Coach and The Matrix (RIP) so I followed to see what the fuss was about and I fell in love. This love progressed into the harder styles when I seen Alex Kidd – I researched one of his tracklists and found a few hardstyle producers like Isaac and Southstylers which made me research the style alot more and through that I found some of my favourite DJ’s/Producers.

Who were your biggest inspirations when you first got involved in hardstyle and are they still as big an inspiration now?

My biggest inspirations were Zatox, Tatanka and Luna. They are still very inspirational to me along with a few other names like Pavo, Zany, Vortex, A-Lusion, Activator and of course hardstyles number one lady – Dana (Soon to be number 2.....just kidding haha)

Where does the name ‘Miss Shoxx’ originate from?

I was sitting in the house one night, I had just been offered my first gig and I didn’t have a name. My uncle suggested Shauna Shoxx (my first name being Shauna) I wasn’t sure of this name so I thought of changing to Miss Shoxx and here I am 

You have played gigs all over Ireland, are there any in particular that stand out for you and why?

One in particular for me is when I played after Pavo for Concept in Omagh, it was great having one of my idols hand the decks over to me when he finished. He stayed for a good bit of my set too which was nerve wrecking.
I also played in the Front Page for TCF Dark with Kayem. This was great for me as Kayem is a good friend of mine and we were both so excited about playing with each other, it was cool.

You also played your first international gig in 2008 at the orange corner in Ibiza, how did that go for you and how do you think the crowd differed from the UK?

Yes playing in Ibiza was great, I loved every minute of it and would do it again, 10 times over! I really enjoyed playing a different style for a change.
I was playing minimal techno in The Orange Corner. To be completely honest it was during the day, people were in having their lunch or a few drinks, it was a beach bar, not exactly a clubbing environment but I enjoyed it just as much as a club.

What has been you biggest musical achievement in your career so far?

There have been a few things I have been really happy about. One being when I was e-mailed from FaJet 94.2 in France and they asked for my mix to be broadcasted live on their show. Hearing the jingle and the dj’s reading my bio out in French live on air was amazing, I never stopped smiling for days.
I was also booked recently to play for Hardstyle United in Glasgow on the 14th March – I am really looking forward to that. It’s good to get recognised in other countries for the style I love to play.

What are your views on the change in hardstyle into the more nu-style sound and how do you think this has affected the scene?

To be completely honest I think that any change in a style is good – variation is the spice of life after all. However, the kicks in some of the tracks could be alot harder and the tracks could be less bor

Miss Shoxx – Italian Hardstyle Diva

Already branded Irelands Queen of Hardstyle – There’s not much I can tell you about Miss Shoxx that you probably don’t already know.

Interested in music from a young age, she always wanted to be part of the industry – and when she got her first set of decks in October 05, she didn’t realise she would hit the Northern Ireland dance scene so soon and so hard.

Just 2 years later she had her debut in October 07 – playing a 2hr filthy electro set in The Edge, Belfast, and it wasn’t long before gigs started rolling in.

She played alongside Dave Schiemann in November 07 and in December 07 seen her first big event – she played after world famous hardstyle DJ, Pavo in one of Irelands leading club nights – Concept. She was then invited back to warm up for Dutch big shot Brennan Heart in March 08.

2008 started with a bang for Miss Shoxx, with requests flowing in to mix on various radio shows including Hard.fm – Netherlands, DI.fm – Netherlands and FaJet 94.2 broadcasted live from France.

2008 also seen her first international gig. She was booked to play in the Orange Corner, Ibiza in June as well as numerous gigs in both the north and south of Ireland each month.

She has been spending a lot of time in the studio recently and has promised to have her first release destroy dancefloors in Ireland, the UK and across the water.

If her productions are anything like her DJ sets then we are set to be impressed. Miss Shoxx is a star in the making!
