- Motto
- REDEEMING OUR OPPRESSED THOUGHT SYSTEMS WITHOUT ENCOURAGING SYSTEMATIC TRANSGRESSIONS.
- Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
- Kia ora brothas sistas and cuzzies from near and far. Rootswest is made up of a hand full of brothas from all over the motu. From Kaipara to the Hawkes and places in between including Rotorua, Otorohanga, Tongariro Maunga and Tokomaru Bay. So Rootswest by no means says where we come from... but it says where we're at. It started in west Aux, Ranui when me and my wyfee put our heads together and turned into an irie little 4pc capable of a big Reggae sound.
Listen to the songs and make your judgement known in the comments box. They were recorded at home on an Boss 8track CD writer so don't mind the quality.
Our covers rep is made up of a mix of familar tunes from RnB to Grunge and we throw in a little ska and dancehall to upbeat them. Our originals are inspired by kotahitanga (unitedness as one) and whanau (family). We play under the banner of "One Love" and play for the people. We hope the people enjoy our music too.... and that's you.
Kia ora!

Influences and Band members.
Band Members
Tipene Babbington - Lead vocals, lead guitar, composer. Tip also plays drums, bass, keyboards, digerido, koauau, putatara, pukaea and djembe or hand drums.
Jack (Jacko) Gilbert - Bass, chillout maori. Jacko also picks a mean blues guitar.
Kelman Christie-Haira - Keyboards, Lenny lookalike. Kelman also plays bass and guitar and writes and records his own vibe of Trip Hop.
Hone (Dark Horse) Flavel - Drums. Brotha Hone jams a solid drum riddim.
Kerri Babbington - manager, composer, mother, wife, No.1 fan and freaky dancer.
We jam and love it hard. We all take time out of our day jobs and shifts to satisfy the craving that is music.
Influences
Thanks to the late uncle Bob Marley for introducing us to Reggae. Thanks to the beat of a heart which is the primal rhythm of life and allows us the connectedness of brotherhood. Thanks to our mums and dads, koroua and kuia and tipuna for their songs and stories and providing us the richness, that which is family. Thanks to our kids and life partners for putting up with late nights and long rehearsals, noise and home invasions. Thanks to the creative platform of music, for giving us a slate upon which to create our song. Thanks to our Atua.0 komentarzy 742 dni
