I have two wonderful children, one boy and one girl. I have been married for 5 years, as of May 2006, which also gave me a wonderful stepson. I graduated from Mount Union College with a BA in Psychology. I am in the process of establishing a day care center and school focused on children with special needs.

  • Upcoming surgery...warning gross

    Okay, so I went to the ears, nose, and throat doctor (ENT) today. I have been having what is called tonsil stones for some time now. Basically it is a ball of bacteria and dead skin cells. It stinks horrible like a sewer too. I remember having these as a kid once in a while too. I would sneeze or cough and one would come out of my mouth. I know...it's gross. Anyhow, it is a little ball about the size of the tip of a pen I guess. It is white and kind of hard, but can be squashed. This causes bad breath along with swollen tonsils and irritated throat. These things are coming from my tonsils because I have what they call cryptic tonsils. That means they are like a golf ball I guess and they hold dead cells.
    Anyhow, this has been getting worse as I have gotten older. I did researach on it, which is when I decided to see an ENT doctor. He told me that I could live with it, but chances are the bacteria would cause an infection to the point I would have to have my tonsils out in the future. He said that he could just take them out now, or I could wait. I decided to have it done. So it is scheduled for September 25th. That is my daughter's 5th birthday, but she will be in school anyhow.
    I am nervous as can be because I have been told...even byt the dr...that this will hurt worse than it does in kids and I will be drugged for about 2 weeks to deal with the pain. That bothers me because I don't like the out of control feeling...I guess that is why I never got into drinking or drugs. Anyhow, I'm gonna have to take the meds because I am such a baby with pain. My husband will be taking the whole week off to help me out. Since Brittani will be in school, all we have is Zachary. That would still be too much on me though if I am on pain meds.
    Anyhow, wish me luck and pray for a quick and as painless as possible recovery.

  • Been a while

    Sorry it has been so long since I have written. It has been a busy weekend here. I was busy babysitting and when I wasn't doing that, I was painting Brittani's room. We just finished it today. It is painted so cute. I did a border around the middle of the room...chair rail I think it's called. I painted a purple stripe around her room. I used a foam crown, castle, heart, and star and traced them on the wall. I then painted them pink. It isn't perfect, but it looks cute. I'll have to try taking pictures of it and posting them.
    Brittani now has her glasses. She looks so adorable in them. I'll have to take pictures of her and post them too.
    Britt starts school on Thursday of next week. Her bus stop is the same as her friend's, so that will be helpful. I am kind of excited as well as nervous because of her being in school with kids like her. She was in a developmentally delayed school for preschool as a typical in their autistic class. She was a role model for the other kids, so there wasn't any competion. However, in kindergarten she will have kids that are typical like her. She'll do fine I'm sure, I am just a little nervous.
    I have two more days with the one little boy I watch (poop monster). He moves on Thursday. He will be out of Ohio, so I won't have him anymore. The other little one I watch is now in school, so I will only have him on Fridays. My days are going to be calm, quiet, and rather boring now I think.
    Anyhow, that is all I have for now. I know...it's boring...sorry.

  • Proud Mama Moment

    Okay, so my daughter has this friend that has been here the past couple of days. Her grandma has cancer and isn't doing so well...so everyone say a prayer for her. But anyhow, this girl is the youngest, so she is severely influenced by her older siblings. And lets face it, all kids have issues with proper behavior and knowing right from wrong...or doing right rather than wrong. So, I have raised Brittani that lying is not acceptable and will be severly punished...not beatings or anything, but things taken away or corner time. She tried it a few times, but has been caught everytime and punished for it.
    Anyhow, Britt and her friend were doing things that they were not allowed to do. Brittani knew it was wrong, and maybe her friend did, maybe not, I'm not sure what she is allowed to do at home. Anyhow, my point is that Brittani knew what they were doing was wrong. I overheard them saying they don't want me to know what they are doing because they would be in trouble. Well, of course as a mother, that sparks our attention. I hollared down the steps "What are you doing that will get you in trouble?" Her friend said "nothing", and Brittani agreed that it was nothing. I reminded them that lying is not accepted in this house and there will be a punishment for it if caught. So, Brittani gets quiet and comes up the stairs. She starts to tell me that they were jumping on the couch. Her friend comes running up behind her telling her to be quiet and not tell. Brittani knew that lying was wrong and actually told me what they were doing, knowing she would probably be in trouble.
    I thanked her for coming and telling me the truth and told her that since she told me the truth, I won't punish her this time. I reminded her how lying in unacceptable and next time she will be punished. She decided to fess up to them drinking water out of her baby dolls' bottles and cups, knowing she wasn't allowed to do that either. Her friend just stood there looking at her like she was crazy. Of course her friend has the influence of other older kids that I'm sure lie at times...what kid doesn't? Well, Brittani being the oldest, other than my step son, who doesn't live here, hasn't had the chance to see other kids lying and getting away with it. She isn't a good liar and I can typically tell when she is lying, so she doesn't get away with it.
    Anyhow, I was a proud mama at that point in time. :D Some of my teachings has began to surface and that makes me realize that she is listening and learning, and that I am not just wasting my breath and energy when dealing with her behaviors. :)

    You shouldn't worry about working. You still have Zach at home & Britt needs you there when she gets home. If Tom's that worried he can go get a second job. I know he isn't gonna put the kids best interest 1st, like you do, if he was watching the kids plus if you had to ask the MIL that would be another thing she would hold over your head. If you can't work in the home then you should be able to wait until Zach is in school full time, before getting a job outside the home. That is, if it is what you want. :D

    Ok, I just an email saying someone named Nike joined bebo & wanted to be my friend. I thought it might be Nikki & I accepted even though I did not like the profile pic. It was a 3way with the Simpson kids. Yuck! I'm like, Nikki has somewhat of different taste for profile pics. I could see maybe having it in an album if she liked that kind of comedy. But not as a profile pic. I'm like, I want NIkki to be on here & I want her as a friend, but I don't think I feel comfortable with her profile pic on my page. So I'm thinking how do I hide it from others.:D Then I click on the page to find out it is not NIkki but some 13 year old boy. I then delete him.:D :L :L :L

    I think the last time I actually saw you was either at Scott and Melissa's wedding or maybe at one of the kids' birthday parties. You are right though; it has been a long time.
    Your kids are adorable, too! I like the one pic of Zachary asleep in his highchair. Tyler has done that once or twice, too!
