- Formed in 1998, The Black Seeds fuse soul, reggae and funk sounds to form a unique musical "party" sound that have set dancefloors alight and crowds a-skanking all over Aotearoa. They usually perform with ten members, with instruments including vocals, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, bass, drums, bongos, keyboard, and more. The Black Seeds' lead singer Barnaby Weir is also the brainchild of Fly My Pretties, a collaboration of musicians from Wellington, New Zealand that only record their albums live.

'SOLID GROUND' RELEASED AUGUST 11!!
The Black Seeds are pleased to announce that their new, fourth studio album ‘Solid Ground’ will be released in New Zealand (Rhythm Method) and Europe (Sonar Kollektiv) from August 11, 2008!!
The 13-track album has once again been recorded with Dr Lee Prebble at The Surgery studio in Wellington and produced by Mike Fabulous.
