GMIT Students' Union is a democratic student representative organisation which speaks and works on behalf of students from accross the five campuses of Galway Mayo IT.

It was established in 1972 around the time of the founding of the then RTC Galway.

In 1996 the union was expanded to include four new campuses; Castlebar, Letterfrack, Cluain Mhuire and Mountbellew.

The union is governed by three full time sabbatical officers as well as part-time executive officers based on each of the five campuses.

GMIT SU is a member of the Union of Students in Ireland.
