Nationality
I was born in Ireland but I see Nationality as just another means of subtle segregation, and find that the only things achieved through grouping ourselves into different nationalities are
1) Irrational discrimination and mistrust of other nationalities.
2) A misplaced sense of achievement and pride when people from your country reach a goal utterly devoid of your or anyone else's contributions.
3) An unjust system in which people gain benefits only for the fact that their mother was in the right place at the right time upon birth.
4) Ignorance to the fact that we are all part of the same species.
5) The grouping together of the entire nation under the same attributes just because the majority are like that. For example, it's CERTAIN PEOPLE that are stupid NOT americans.
I am a human being and nothing more.

The way i see it this song is a true plea for help. Johnson doesnt know where to go or what to do, he is at a "crossroads" in his life. He knows he can't handle things on his own, so he asks God for help, i feel that he asks "Save poor Bob if you please" in the way one might say "My friend has a problem" when its really your own problem.
He tries to get guidance from others, tries to flag a ride so he can be led out of his trouble. Nobody knows him, they dont understand his problems, and they won't bother to help because for all they know he may just be crazy. So as more and more people pass him by, it seems the end is near, the sun is going down and the dark is going to overcome him.
He has regrets, he never found someone to share his life and love with, maybe he wouldnt be in his situation now if he had. Telling willie brown is not for help, it's just to warn him that he might not be here the next morning, It's too late, he's sinkin' down.0 komentarzy 471 dni
