Viewpark Boxing Club
Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
Viewpark Amateur Boxing Club started in 2004. The club is proudly run by head coach Michael Murphy. Former WBU Middleweight Champion of the World Lawrence Murphy, former professional Gerard Murphy and former Scottish amateur champion David McNeill help to coach the club members.

Viewpark ABC started this BEBO page to show people how the club is doing. It will show any events that the club has organized such as shows, race nights etc.
If you are a fan of boxing please post a comment and use it as a fans forum, talk about up and coming fights from all around the world or local amateur fights.
Hopefully this will generate more interest in the club from the local area.

6pm to 7:30pm Registered boxers.

    • Scottish Novice Championships 13th - 14th Dec 2008

      Viewpark ABC were hoping to have 5 boxers in the Scottish Novice Championships this year. Lee Morrell unfortunately had to pull out 2 weeks before because of illness. Dylan Marshell sustained a injury while Conner Mason came down with the cold.
      That lefted Joe Wiseman & Josh Mitchell to go to Cardenden on Saturday morning to represent the club.
      After a long wait, word came out that Josh would be fighting a fighter from North West ABC and it would be 28th on ring one. Unfortunately for Joe Wiseman the fighter he was matched with came in 1kg over weight.
      It was a long wait for Josh, fighting at 50kg. When the time came to fight he was pumped but still wee bit nervous.
      The fist round was close with the two boxers giving as good as they got. In the second round Josh was a wee bit more relaxed, letting his two hands go. The North West fighter was the bigger fighter out of the two and was a formidable opponent. In the third and last round Josh could do no wrong with his jab, in fact, it was working that well he stared to double it up with great success. It is very rare to see the double jab catch but Josh had it down to a tee in this fight. The score was 5-4 in Josh's favour.
      Josh has won the Scottish Novice Championship two years in a row now and keeps his undefeated record at 4 wins. :D

    • Auchengeigh Show Saturday 10th of May 2008

      Viewpark ABC took 7 boxers over to Moodiesburn on the 10th of May. Unfortunately only 4 out of the 7 boxed.
      First up was the little big man, Joe Wiseman. Joe was in against A Little, with Joe's height or should I say his lack of height means, he moves a lot and counter punches. In the first round Joe used this to take the round. What Joe also does is he uses his angles well. It was this tactic that really won Joe the fight on points. It's been a good first season for Joe with 3 fights and 2 wins.
      Up next was Josh Mitchell. This would be Josh's third fight of the season, his first two coming when he won the Scottish Novice Championship. A Lafferty was the boy trying to stop Josh getting three wins out of three. Josh come out in the first round looking up for the fight. Lafferty went back to his corner after the first round with a burst nose. In the second Josh used his jab well, keeping his man away. The blood from Lafferty nose would not stop and after the second, going in the third round, the Ref asked the Doctor to have a look at his nose. Under Doctors orders the Ref stopped the fight. The third win in a row for young Josh.
      Lee Morrell was up next for the club. Over this season Lee has worked very hard to get in shape and get his weight down. He was in against H Gray for this fight. Lee's movement was good in the first round and it was a hard round to call. In the second Gray was landing a few more then Lee but Lee kept moving forward and did not loss heart. It was the same story in the third round and the fight went to Gray on points. Lee knows that if he keeps the weight off he could really be in about things next season.
      Last up was Dylan Marshell for the club. Dylan had not fought since March 2006 and was up for the fight. B Neill was in with Dylan for this one. It was a good fight to watch with both boxers landing punches. With each round looking like a high scoring round. Dylan was pressing the fight and was on the front foot for most of the fight, pinning his man against the ropes. So it was a bit of a let down when the judges gave the fight to Neill. Sometimes in boxing you really wonder. :O

    • West Vs North & Scottish

      Lewis Bryce was pick to represent the West of Scotland against the North of Scotland at the Nights Club in Moodiesburn on Friday 11th of April. A Bailey was Lewis opponent on the night. It was going to be a hard fight for Lewis because Bailey was strong. Lewis fought well and the fight went to points with Lewis coming out on top. It was a great win for Lewis against a very hard fighter.

      Andy McKenzie Scottish final against H Barrett was to take place in the Clelland Club on Saturday the 12th of April. This was a hard fight to judge with the two fighters giving their all. Andy was looking for his 2nd Scottish title but it was not to be. Barrett the fight that could have went either way. This did not stop the Scotland coaches picking Andy to fight for his country in Bulagaria later this year. :D
