À propos de moi
I have always loved missions. If you are a retired missionary, still on the field or preparing for the mission field please join this group.
I truly believe that the heart of God is in missions.
God bless!

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! ~~ Romans 10:13-15

  • Missions:the heart of God.

Since a small child I have always been enthralled by the stories of missionaries. Reading missionary biographies or listing to the missionaries speak in my church would always give me a restless feeling, and I would feel in my heart that one day I would also join the ranks of some of those great people that are called missionaries.
I don't remember exactly how old I was when I felt the Lord dealing with my heart, but I remember I was between the age of 8-10 years old.
I took my first missions trip to the Philippines when I was 17. I went with former missionaries there, Bro. and Sis. Lyle Berg Sr. I LOVED it!! The Filipino people are beautiful are are so friendly. I loved the food and the three weeks I was there passed by WAY to fast. I went back home and went to FGBI. I went back to the Philippines again when I was 19. This time I traveled with my sister and Sister Petit. I had another wonderful time there with the people and just getting to see the sights of that beautiful country. I thought for sure that God was calling me to the Philippines. I had already started studying the language and studying their culture. God had other plans though. After I graduated from FGBI I was informed that they were looking for married couples in the Phil, so obviously that didn't apply to me! So, I started praying about where God wanted me. Sis. Linda Tobman had talked to me before about Taiwan, but since I planned on going to the Phil., I had told her no. Now though that it seemed the door to the Philippines was closed I started seriously considering going to Taiwan. I really didn't pray long. I knew that God wanted me there. So, in September of 2001, the day before 9/11 Gloria Wilson and I left family and friends at the Pittsburgh airport and started a journey towards the Orient. I have never regretted that decision. In the more than 6 years I have been here I have seen God to wonderful things in the lives of the Taiwanese people. I learned Chinese, Taiwanese and some Hakkanese. Learn to love some Oriental dishes that years ago I could have NEVER even imagines eating:D I have made many dear, dear friends whom I love very much. They will always be in my heart.
Soon, I (along with Sis. Gloria) will begin a new chapter in my life. Sometime next January I plan, Lord willing, to move to Mexico. Learn a new language, a new culture. When your life is in God's hands it is always full of adventure.

I really do believe that missions is the heart of God. It was His
last commandment to us. Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. I think that every Christian should take at least one missions trip. It will change your life. Whether you are still in your native country or on the foreign field, the most important thing that we can do is win the lost at any cost. Souls are the only thing we can take to Heaven with us!

  • Are you sure you want to be a missionary?lol

A tongue-in-cheek look at some sure-fire ways to avoid becoming a missionary

    1. Ignore Jesus' request in John 4:35 that we take a long hard look at the fields. Seeing the needs of people can be depressing and very unsettling. It could lead to genuine missionary concern.
(John 4:35 "Do you not say, `Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." For other Bible passages on missions, click here)
    2. Focus your energies on socially legitimate targets. Go after a bigger salary. Focus on getting a job promotion, a bigger home, a more luxurious car, or future financial security. Along the way, run up some big credit card debts. [ ready feet . . . ]
    3. Get married to somebody who thinks the "Great Commission" is what your employer gives you after you make a big sale. After marriage, embrace the socially accepted norms of settling down, establishing a respectable career trajectory and raising a picture-perfect family.
    4. Stay away from missionaries. Their testimonies can be disturbing. The situations they describe will distract you from embracing whole-heartedly the materialistic lifestyle of your home country.
    5. If you happen to think about missions, restrict your attention to countries where it's impossible to openly do missionary work. Think only about North Korea, Saudi Arabia, China and other closed countries. Forget the vast areas of our globe open to missionaries. Never, never listen to talk about creative access countries.
    6. Think how bad a missionary you would be based on your own past failures. It is unreasonable to expect you will ever be any better. Don't even think about Moses, David, Jonah, Peter or Mark, all of whom overcame failures. [ more on Jonah ]
    7. Always imagine missionaries as talented, super-spiritual people who stand on lofty pedestals. Maintaining this image of missionaries will heighten your own sense of inadequacy. Convincing yourself that God does not use ordinary people as missionaries will smother any guilt you may feel about refusing to even listen for a call from God. [ type of missionaries needed ]
    8. Agree with the people who tell you that you are indispensable where you are. Listen when they tell you that your local church or home country can't do without you. [ Apple pickers parable ]
    9. Worry incessantly about money. [ simple lifestyle ]
    10. If you still feel you must go, go out right away without any preparation or training. You'll soon be home again and no one can ever blame you for not trying!

Inspired by Stewart Dinnen's list in How are you doing? (Bromley: STL Books, 1984)

I am an Intern in a government Medical college in TamilNadu, India. From Childhood I've always wanted to be a missionary doctor to spread Gospel to the unreached. I want to work among oppressed people who are poor. Africa has been on my mind. But still i want to be open minded and do God's will and to go wherever He leads me. I also dont know what Post graduation to pursue if needed before entering missions. I want to do anything that's in tune with His will for me. Please pray that I may discern his will and obey it wholeheartedly.

    Hi, continues

I waited on the application via email, no application form, God says "write a letter and leave out somethings so that you have something to talk about when you get your interviews, and send your letter to Peirrepont. I did, I'm still waiting on word. I go to ellel on 15 February, they propbably waiting until I go down.

Well as I'm waiting on word, God says " your moving soon".
I ask where am I moving too. 2 days later my landlord sends me a letter requesting me to move out. I have 60 days to move out.

please keep my children and I in your prayers. I have put this into God's hands, as I do not know where I'm moving too, wheither it's here in Paisley or at Ellel. this is in God's hands.

    Amen, thanks to be God.

    Love

    Yvonne

    Hello,

I thought I would let you know what has been happening.

I was on Bebo updating my website, God says Peirrepont, I says, there is only one Peirrepont I know of, Ellel Ministerise. I checked Ellel website, God says check the vacancies, I came across two vacanices for Receptionist, one for elle hotel and one for ellel house at Peirrepont, I asked God What one, God says Peirrepont, not the hotel one. God says send your email address, I did. I waited, no reply. I went to Ellel for my Mod B weekend and my personal appointment with God. at my personal appointment, I was letting my councilers know, just before they says "all Ellel Houses computers are down, you need to phone them." . God says to me you need to phone them. When I got home, I phoned the next day. The vacancy is still available, The guy I spoke to says he would send me an application form via email, I says that the computers are down.
