I am not gonna tell you the basics like what sizes and dimensions the files should be because you can find them anywhere, however the following 9 points should hopefully help you in creating a great skin and letting people know about it...

1) Program
I use Macromedia Fireworks 8 to make my skins and frankly its perfect for the task. It took me very little time to get to grips with all of its functions and capabilities and I can say its one of or the best program for making skins. Apart from the limitless functions, it's really good for animating text on your skin, which I have come to use quite alot.

2) Themes
I try to stick to themes I know alot of people will like, but admittedly I am biased on my Skins, so I tend to choose things I like, especially in sport and music. However, if you choose popular films and TV shows it is guaranteed alot of poeple will use them. Humorous and funny skins are probably the most popular on Bebo so try to incorporate it into your skin, but be original so try to do something someone else hasn't.

3) Font
The fonts you use in your skin play an important role in making it look good. I get all my fonts from the site: www.dafont.com, not only is it free but there is such a huge range they're bound to have what you're looking for.

4) Images
This bit is pretty straight forward but it can be hard finding the piture you want so make sure you look further than the obvious places. I would also recommend getting them from the many free image sites on the net, which can be vital if you want to avoid the copyright regulations when featuring your skin.

5) Colour
Colour can be the single most important thing in making a nice skin. Once your skills get more developed you can start to coordinate the colours of your skin and text, so it isn't monochromatic and boring throughout.

6) Quality
Nothing looks worse on a skin than the main picture being fuzzy and blurred. I am talking about the size and thus quality of your skin. I have found it hard to suit the sizes of my skins to the limit Bebo has put in place. For example, the MainBG or the main background at the top of your profile is limited to 40KB, so if you find a very colourful bright picture, chances are it will be too big (in terms of KB). This means you will have to lower the size the file is saved as which affects its quality. I try to get around it by making my images smaller and by choosing a black, white or plain coloured background.

7) Advertisement
There's nothing better than seeing alot of people using your skin and there are various ways to help make it happen. I started by submitting my skins on Skin sites outside of bebo (for example: www.beboskinz.com), and although it is tough to get it features, it is worth it when it does. One of the best ways is to find groups or bands which are directly linked to the theme of your skin. For example, if you have just made a 50 Cent skin, find the most popular 50 Cent group or band and post a comment with a link to the skin. Better yet ask the band memebers to use the skin for the profile, which will maximise its advertisement.

Submit To Be Featured
This is linked to point seven but is probably the best way to advertise your skin. I am talking about sumbitting it to bebo so it can be featured on its skin chart. However, unless your skin is fresh, original, and appealing odds are it won't be chosen, but this is something you won't know unless you give it a try.

9) The Most Important One
If you are no good at making skins, find something else to do. Don't copy other people's skins and post them as your own...
YOU WILL GET CAUGHT.
YOU WILL GET REPORTED.
YOU WILL GET BLOCKED FROM MAKING ANYMORE SKINS.
