hey everyone!
so this will prob be my last group email-some of u especially you miss bell if u even read this will be very happy!just thought id send a wee update to let u all know what we're up to.
well we have now left the home after a very busy weekend.all of the last week the kids were off school which was cool cause we got to see them more but a little more stressful.amy and i attended mothers day events at the two schools which were well interesting.then on mothers day our kids put on a show for the mothers of the house.it was so cute and they were all very affected by it.
on the saturday before we left we threw a party for our little boys.it was so cute to see them having so much fun,shocking how fun lego can be!we gave them lots of fruit and crisps and drinks and seemingly the party was a success as they got to do whatever they wanted and eat as much as they wanted.even though they ruined pineapple with salsa!sadly all the other kids were jealous but our boys are our boys!
that night tia asked amy and i to do devotion.so we did it about drawing near to God and how God will draw near to you.we hope that it showed the kids that they can be close to God and that he is not in the distance but right here with us.thankfully the big boys were not back in time from fishing as that would have made me even more nervous!
goodbyes were very sad.the tia wanted us to leave without saying goodbye so that the kids would not cry but we couldnt do that and we certainly couldnt lie to them.so before they went to burger king which was their distraction we explained to quite a few of them and ofcourse our special ones that we wouldnt be there when we got back.seeing tears welling up in their eyes was horrible.it was hard saying goodbye to the big boys too as they were our friends there.but we leave them in Gods hands and well thats the best thing for them.
so from acapulco we went to stay with a family who helped us get to mexico in the first place.was nice to have a few days to rest before coming to colombia.although the children actually never stopped talking which was hard at times especially when our eyes were closing with tiredness.really lovely family though and im so glad we got to meet them.they took us to tula to see some historic monuments which was cool too as it meant we got to see more of the country.
so we arrived in colombia yesterday to find ourselves with a room each and a double bed in a lovely house!honestly its weird not having amy an arm reach away!the project in colombia is very different to the one in acapulco so we're excited to see how it works here.we have already seen a little bit and it seems that they work on a much smaller scale and emphasis is a lot more on family which is good and understandable!so we'll see what God has in store for us here.feel like it will be a good time to meet with before going home which is always good.
well thats about all from here.ill be home on the 3rd june and look forward to catching up with u all then.home exams arent too stressful.really do pity you all!love ems xx

hey peeps!
thought it was time for a little update form this side of the world...well easter has now been and gone and it was a very fun one over here.i had the delight of having my wonderful family come visit which meant we had a refuge to go to at night times with a beautiful pool to swim in and amazing chocolate brownies!it was a very welcome refuge as the kids were off school and it was manic in the house at times.
over easter the tia went away on cruise,a much needed break which meant her sister or son stayed every night.it was a lot more relaxed which was good in some ways but not in others!she left amy and i to organise the easter service.that was interestin.we involved the kids as much as possible and tried to pick the ones that dont normally get picked.now we kinda no why!!lol.ended up doing a drama and trying to show them the real meaning of easter and Gods love.amy even showed us her skills on the keyboard!
other than that things have been going really well.having lots of fun with the kids.still working with our little boys and its so cool seeing them progress.our littlest can now recognise numbers to 100-he knew up to 20 when we got here!lol.mum and wendy got to spend the morning with one of our classes-im sure that was an experience never to be forgotten for them.
so we have just about a month left here...the next part of our trip is well exciting and scary.we take a bus from here to monterrey-only 18 hours away!then stay there with a friend for a few days before flyign to colombia to work with ywam for two weeks!!!eeeek.and everyone ill be fine!then ill be back in the uk on june 3rd(sorry hutch got it wrong
think thats about all the news....i should get on with my birthday shopping for amy.love to you all.ems x

hey people!

thought it was time for another little update.well when i saw little you all know that i dont normally mean it now do i?!i want to start off by thanking all those of you who are praying for us out here.really appreciate and can feel God working on our behalf(shola thanks for email this am,promise i will reply at some stage!!).

life here is continuing very well.we are getting to know the kids a lot more and realising that we love every single one of them in my different ways and at many different times.its strange cause even though they all grow up in this home they are all very individual-that im glad of because otherwise this world would be missing out on some real characters!

we had an interesting experience on saturday night-sorry wendy,mum and hutch who have already heard this story-so the cook here invites us to her church on saturday night for a dance.amy and i are quite excited and its our first night out since we got here,normally cooped up like chickens by 8.30 and thats not a joke.we are thankful our light does not have to be off by 9!!!so we get all dressed up,nice jeans and a top,hair done nicely and makeup.as usual we are ready before the boys here and we're standing waiting on them when one walks out with a bible.im like why are u bringing a bible.he looks at me as if ive got 4 heads and says emma we're going to church.so i with one of those confused looks that im good at go but i thought we were going to dance.he bursts out laughing and proceeds to tell me that its a half night of prayer and worship!ahhhh!woops!!!!and we find out later on in the night that dancing is bad here-woops again!so we arrive at the church to find every woman wearing a skirt,a net thing over their heads and no make-up in sight!and the only two white girls in the room break every rule going!it was quite fun though as we got to know two of the older boys better.and seemingly we broke another rule on the way back by jumping over a wall!!??

well amy managed to lock us out of room here for the second time although im absolutely positive she will blame me in her blog!but in my defence she walked out last!so i run like really run to the guy we tell when it happens and in an emma whiney voice tell him amy did it.hes just laughing as i think that was the first time they had seen me like that.so what they do when we lock ourselves out is tie a rope round one of the big boys and send him abseiling over the side of the house and in through our window!so the guy just goes right off we go and we totter upstairs to get him all tied up!we are however thinking of staging it so we can take pictures of him climbing in through our window!!!

i now have a new friend that is taking over teddy bear boys position and he doesnt like it!at the start this kid didnt talk too much and i somehow managed to win him round.well now all he wants to do is cuddle me and play with me and basically never leave my side.so im sitting at lunch yesterday witht he little ones and he goes amy doesnt like me and im like why and he says cause she always scolds me!another little girl turned round and said yeh she scolds me too but she never hits us!lol.they couldnt decide whether it was a good thing that i dont scold cause they dont know anyone who doesnt!!!teddy bear boy and my new friend decided last night that they are going to jump in my suitcase and come home with me.bit scary as they have it all planned from what ill pack them for lunch to how they will sit to learning english before we leave here.oh how i wish i could actually take them.
