- The war in northern Uganda has been called the most neglected humanitarian emergency in the world today. For the past 21 years, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan government have been waging a war that has left nearly two million innocent civilians caught in the middle. The Ugandan government has failed to protect its citizens from this rebel militia that has murdered mothers and buried the young, leaving an entire generation of youth that has never known peace.
The LRA (rebels) resorted to abducting children and indoctrinating them into their ranks. It is estimated that more than 90% of the LRA’s troops are children. These Children have no say in joining, if they complain or think about home they get shot.
Join the Campain, and get people to join and put an end to this war once and for all!

Stop the Hunger Crisis - update
sorry for the long time with no update
but here is a clip from www.one.org which talks
how food prices are setting chairitys 7 years back
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In just three years, the price of staple foods like wheat, corn and rice has almost doubled, and this week, World Bank President Robert Zoellick said that if left unchecked, global food shortages could set the world back seven years in the fight against extreme poverty and global disease. We must urge our leaders to take action.
Sign our petition to President Bush.
President Bush,
The soaring cost of staple foods and the resulting hunger crisis has caused riots from Haiti to Bangladesh, threatens hundreds of thousands of people with starvation and could push one hundred million more people deeper into poverty. Please build on your recent commitment by taking immediate action to:
Prioritize issues of global poverty, including the world hunger crisis, on the agenda of the G8 Summit this July in Japan.
At the summit, secure commitments for additional resources for all types of food assistance and increased agricultural productivity in developing countries.

Uganda War Over?
Subject: Call-In Day: Today!
Today's the big call-in today in support of the ongoing peace talks in Uganda. You may not be in D.C. for Lobby Days but you can still make an impact. The Congressional switchboard is (202) 224-3121, which will connect you to your members of Congress. Check out invisiblechildren.com/blog for information on the current political climate over there.
Also, here's a letter from our friends at Resolve Uganda describing why today is so important:
Hi everyone,
I have good news.
Right now, the Ugandan Government and an LRA delegation are at the negotiating table, hammering out the final details of an agreement that would formally end their 22-year war. The successful completion of these historic negotiations are critical in moving from war to peace and might happen within the next month.
But this agreement is just the first step of the peace process.
Nearly half of all conflicts that reach this point devolve back into open warfare within five years of their declared "resolution." That's largely because, too often, a signed agreement is seen as the end, instead of the starting point for building a new, peaceful future.
That's where you come in. It is crucially important that our leaders commit to fully supporting any agreement that comes out of the Juba Peace Talks. In order for people to start returning home and life to start returning to normal, a settlement will have to be backed up with support and money. Next Tuesday, 1,000 people from across the U.S. will be coming to D.C. to directly lobby policymakers on this issue as part of the Lobby Days for Northern Uganda.
By taking one minute to back them up with a phone call, you can greatly increase the chance that our message is heard and our requests responded to.
We're calling for the political engagement and financial commitment necessary to see this thing through. This is the time when most of the world -the media, governments, and even NGOs- turns its attention elsewhere. When peace is close. But close isn't good enough. Too much hangs in the balance.
Without our continued engagement, the progress we've seen over the last few years won't matter. We might not get the peace agreement we've been working toward for so long and even if we do, it might not translate into lasting, sustainable peace.
By making a phone call next Tuesday, you can help make sure that doesn't happen. As the people of northern Uganda wait to see whether the war that sometime seemed as if it would never end might actually be over, we can do something to give substance to their hopes for peace.
We'll give you all of the details next Tuesday, but I just wanted you to know that this was in the works.
Thank you for continuing to stand with the people of northern Uganda during this crucial time.
Sincerely,
Alison Jones

Events
Displace Me
In April 2007 we hosted our second nationwide event where more than 68,000 individuals gathered in 15 cities across the United States to experience for one night what it was like to be displaced. They left their homes, left their comforts, and displaced themselves for the displaced in northern Uganda.
Created to be an experiential event, Displace Me used storytelling to personalize a tragedy largely unknown to the international community, creatively bringing awareness to the emergency situation of the displaced. The voices of the participants were heard and actions were seen by national media, congressmen, and even the White House. Thanks in part to these committed and compassionate individuals, long overdue peace is finally on the horizon.

Global Night Commute (GNC)
On April 28, 2006, more than 80,000 people took a stand by lying down. With Global Night Commute locations in 126 cities across the United States, people walked for miles to their city centers and slept in the streets to make a visual call to end night commuting in northern Uganda. The Global Night Commute was labeled one of the biggest U.S. demonstrations for Africa to date, and less than a year after the event took place, the large majority of children in the North stopped commuting to their city centers.

The Rescue in Christchurch was amazing! Everyone who was there was so into it and for such a good cause. It does need more awareness! This guy needs to be stoped...what he's doing is unfair and heartbreaking.
