O mnie

Motto
Explore a world of opportunity, and discover your potential.
Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) provide a free service for all of Scotland’s students to encourage enterprising spirit and skills, and help start-up companies become the businesses of tomorrow. We’ll get you thinking actively about enterprise, involved in some of Scotland’s most exciting student events, and help you get off to the best start in your career or start-up company.

We work with all 19 Higher Education Institutions across Scotland, and host a range of events and activities throughout the academic year to give you the chance to get involved.

For the student with a business idea, we are readily available with our four Regional Business Advisors. They act as mentors and provide professional advice, excellent networks and do all in their ability to help the business get on its feet.

More information and contact details can be found at our website: www.sie.ac.uk
Intern Programme
SIE have two or three interns at each higher education institution to make sure we can get the SIE message across at the right level. They are employed part-time by us, and their role is to promote enterprise in their institution and help us run our major national events.
If you want to get involved with SIE or enterprise but aren't quite sure what it would involve, contact your local intern to find your local Enterprise Society and events.
Business Plan Competition
SIE Business Plan Competition runs from September 2007 until March 2008. Applicants are given the chance to turn their idea into a workable business plan, attend the Enterprise Academy, and ultimately to win £16, 000 for their business start-up.Each Institution has its own local application process, so contact your local Intern to find out how to apply. It could be the best first step you ever take.
National Student Enterprise Summit 2008
SIE Student Enterprise Summit is a unique opportunity to hear some of the most successful, inspiring and impressive entrepreneurs of our time speak about their success, what inspires them, and share some invaluable advice.

Previous speakers include Alastair Campbell, Jacqueline Gold (CEO of Ann Summers), BJ Cunningham (Death Cigarettes), Bear Grylis, and the Innocent Boys. Register interest: e.hynan@sie.ac.uk
Student Enterprise Africa
Business doesn't just mean personal profit. Social enterprise allows you to start your own business, and actively make a difference by donating some or all profits to a social cause of your choice. Student Enterprise Africa (S.E.A.) is a new SIE activity for 2007/08. It aims to raise awareness of social enterprise activity, focusing on social development in Africa. Contact Toby Hyde for more information. sea@sie.ac.uk

    Right,

Do you know what Social Enterprise is????

    Didn’t think so,

    Basically…

    Ok…

I could go on and ruin the event but basically we have Declan Jones, Head of Widening Access & Community Engagement here at GCU, coming into tell us his story and what social enterprise is, but more importantly, Why You Should Get Inovlved!!! In this world of global warming and carbon footprints, more and more companies are starting to emerge with a social conscious and their whole reason for existence is to contribute to a social purpose. Wikipedia does it better than me:

“Social enterprises are social mission driven organizations which trade in goods or services for a social purpose.”

The event takes place this Thursday, 1st November, Environmental & Energy Awareness Day, in W118 at 5pm, same place as last event.

As always there will be free food and drink available.

    Bebo back for more info,
    Peace,
Your local Student Intern for Enterprise
