thanks for all the comments guys, ok so it has been established that the actual milk will still be avaialble it will just be bottled somewhere else. gisborne milk's major business is bottling the milk and this is the issue as jobs will be lost and business taken out of the local economy.

'SAVE GIZZY MILK' SAYS WEBSITE PAGE

A grass-roots movement to save Gisborne milk has appeared online, with the popular Bebo site running a campaign called "save-gizzy -milk".
created over the last couple of days it follows the announcement that the milk factory will close its production facility on November 30 with the loss of 36 jobs.
The site has 90 members so far and has been viewed more than 220 times.
An online blog says the campaign is completely devoted to saving Gisborne Milk because it is the best and an icon of our childhood.
"We understand that Gisborne Milk is shutting down due to high price being offered for milk by Fonterra and that there's not a whole lot we can do about that.
"But we thought we better make a big deal of it 'cos Gisborne Milk is like another person in our lives," it reads.
The site calls anyone who has any realistic ideas about how they can save Gisborne Milk to let them know.
The creator remains unknown but has clearly gone to a lot of trouble, with photos of various products on view and a background with the Gisborne Milk logo.
The central city milk factory has been processing milk, and other products, for almost 63 years, keeping generations of dairy farms busy and fridges stocked.

Gisborne Milk general manager Dan Gaddum said the site was fantastic.
"it's good example of the power of the internet as a social networking site, and great to see local people care" he said.
Messages left on the site by supporters recall primary school trips to the factory and shocked at the impending closure.
"Holy cow...that's where Gizzy milk comes from," wrote one' while others are more philosophical. "If its meant to be, its meant to be" While the bebo generation's power with online campaigns has been noticed in the media, it is unlikely to have any impact on a decision already made.
