“What is your Definition of Freeride”
Matt Hunter
“When you get in a cab, it takes you home and you don’t pay him, haha, no seriously, Just riding how you feel like, without someone timing you or anything like that, just riding for fun”
Cam McCaul
“Oh, that’s a good one, my definition of freeride is anytime your out riding your bike, trying to push your limits, .. it is just defined as something where you are not racing, so anytime you’re riding your bike and learning new things and trying to throw down some style, something like that, style and tricks, and just having fun.”
Steve Romaniuk
“Freeriding is just being free, ride where ever you want, whatever you want to do. That’s why it’s freeriding”
Gareth Dyer
“It explans itself, just ride free”
Carlo Dieckmann
“It’s everything you do when you bike, it’s just like, you just go streeting kinda streetstyle, big mountain or you go dirtjumping… , yeah it’s a bit of everything…, why not”
Titou Picard
“There is no defintion, because if there was one, it wouldn’t be freeride”
Tarek Rasouli
“Freeride is the way you express yourself on a bike and you involve in your riding all different obstacles, …, like gaps, drops, or you ride on wooden trees, like at the north shore, or you go dirtjumping, which is also freeriding “
Aaron Chase
“I guess anything that you can do on a bike, besides from racing and competing. You know we do compete in freeride but, freeriding is what everybody does for fun”
Ryan Leech
“It is what it says… there are no definitions, it is what the rider wants it to be”
Darren Berrecloth
“The ability to do anything you feel or want to do on a bike”
Trond Hansen
“Freeriding is just riding bikes for fun, not for going fast, freeriding is kinda doing everything you want on a bike. To me singletrack riding is as much freeriding as dirtjumps and slopestyles and everything. The only definition of freeride in compair to racing is, the goal is not to go fast, the goals is just to have as much fun as you can”
Cameron Zink
“Riding your bike and progressing”
Mike Kinrade
“I myself think freeriding is going out and enjoying the ride, XC, DJ, street, big bike, anything, it’s free it’s fun, that’s what freeriding is”
Carlin Dunne
“Freeride is having the freedom to do what you want, be able to go where you want, to be able to be as creative as you want, you’re not convined by a racecourse”
Wade Simmons
“Yeah, I don’t have a definition of Freeride, i don’t know, itsn’t it in the … dictonary yet, it’s been around for a while, it should be”
Robbie Bourdon
“Just Riding, you know, where ever you want, without any rules and no one really judging you, and there is no time”
Geoff Gulevich
“The ability to ride anywhere and do anything, with no boundries”
Cedric Gracia
“Riding with my friends, hang out and drink beer. No timing”
Randy Sprangler
“Freeriding to me is a pretty loose term, in the sense of like, it is such an open thing that you can have guys from tons of different area’s come ride with you. You can go self-express yourself in dirt jumping, ripping downhill, racecourses like just the fact of being out there, self expression, having a good time, no stress, being with your friends and ripping it up”
Ritchy Schley
“Ride and feel free”
Michal Marosi
“This (the adidas slopestyle) is not freeride, this is streetriding, freeride is if you find a good trail and you have a choice for riding and do everything you want. And freeride is in the wood and no building stuff like wooden drops or something like this”
Timo Pritzel
“Free like the word is saying, do what you wanna do, free ride, and it shouldn’t be limited, it’s kind of a mix of mountainbiking”
Thomas Vanderham
“I don’t know, I don’t like the word freeride because it puts it into a category. Freeriding is every kind of riding as long as you are e0 commenti 680 giorni

Ryan Nyquist
Once the season began, he settled into a routine: riding contests on weekends, then returning home to Greenville, North Carolina on Monday, where he would rest and let his body heal and ride very little. Then Thursday would inevitably roll around, and he would leave town for another chance to pull tricks, make money, and please sponsors. "I think it takes a certain kind of person," he said of whatever it was inside him that led him to freestyle. "It definitely takes different qualities for sure to want to go out and try the crazy stuff." Asked if he agreed with the scientific and medical theories about these athletes, he smiled politely and shook his head: "That's just a different language to me." He agreed there was a rush associated with his job, but any implications that it was akin to a narcotic addiction offended him. "When you go out there and pull something hard, it's definitely a blast," he said. "Makes you feel good. But it's not like a fix or drug where we need it to function daily."
This was the side of Nyquist - earnest, clean-cut, antismoking, antidrinking, antidrugging - that his manager of four years, Steve Astephen, called, with a big, pleased smile, "American Pie." In addition to his X Games medals, Nyquist had a slew of sponsors and corporate tie-ins, from phone companies to candy bars, that added up to a six-figure income; Adidas was about to introduce an upgraded version of his signature shoe, which would retail for $80 and include the extra padding he demanded. "He's very corporate friendly," Astephen said. Other riders cultivated images as hard-living scuzzy wild boys on two wheels. Nyquist knew them all, even liked many of them, but that image was not for him; he was and remained a dedicated professional BMX rider.

The phenomenon of alignment
The fundamental characteristic of the relatively unaligned team is wasted energy. Individuals may work extraordinarily hard, but their efforts do not efficiently translate to team effort. By contrast, when a team becomes more aligned, a commonality of direction emerges, and individuals' energises harmonize. There is less wasted energy. In fact, a resonance or synergy develops, like the "coherent" light of a laser rather than the incoherent and scattered light of a light bulb. There is commanality of purpose, a shared vision, and an understanding of how to complement one another's efforts. Individuals do not sacrifice their personal interests to the larger team vision; rather the shared vision becomes an extension of their personal visions.
