- Well... what to say here... I am currently making my living as a musician in the scottish folk band North Sea Gas. Spend about 5 months of the year out the country with them in America, Germany, Estonia and a few others.
Life is pretty good. Still an avid sports fan (some things never change)
Been living in edinburgh for about 5 years now and have no plans to change that
Still talking about learning to drive but haven't got round to actually doing it yet lol.
- Music
- North Sea Gas obviously, Anything Scottish at the mo. Some great new folk bands on the go right now such as LAU, Back of the Moon(now defunct unfortunately) etc. Other than Scottish, still into Pink Floyd, the Jam, The Who etc
- Films
- Not much of a film person to tell you the truth
- Sports
- Soccer, Rugby, big into American Sports at the mo: American Football, Baseball, Hockey (ice)

Has to be done
Sorry to anyone who actually reads this, but I need to write a few things down, and hopefully I'll read them back and do something about them
Really, really need to get the head sorted out fairly quickly before I drive myself insane. At the moment I am having real difficulties turning the brain off. Need to stop trying to use alcohol, as it seems to put it into overdrive. The only release I have, especially after drinking, is gambling, and that is not a ood way forward.
Whats going on with the brain? Million dollar question, and hopefully just typing random crap like this can give me an insight into whats going on.. Numbers. Always numbers. Almost everything I do, or like, or even care about seems to revolve round them. Got into sports, especially american ones because they are a stats driven entity. Christ, I do music for a living, which is the purest form of maths. Can you write music without even looking at an instrument.stave. Is it possible to write purely mathamatically. Might be worth a try? How can I turn the brain of in a more economic fashion. Dont know!!! Grrr....
If anyone is still reading at this point, well done! If anyone has answers, ffs tell me what they are.
I would loe to say that this blog is fuelled by drink, but as I stopped drinking 5 hours ago I suspect there are oother things going on. This is driving me mad, and for once I have no answer to it. The more I try to turn off/switch off/relax, the more I seem to start thinking. There must be a way I can use this, a focus, something more constructive than... than...than.. sitting here writing shite at 7 in the morning?
I've been tod in the past that I am not stupid, but why then do I fell that I am. Thats not true, I'm perfectly aware that I have a brain.... only I have no fucking idea what it's meant to be used for... Answers on a postcard to....
I would really like to finish this with a nice conclusion, but I cant think of one. Lol, irony, brain wont stop working, and I cant think of anything. Story of my life pretty much. Focus.... goals.... never had any, that might be the problem. Is it a problem?
How do I go from someone who coasted through, never had to work for anything, not that I diddn't work, but nothing was ever difficult, screw it, who am I kidding? I didn't work, ever, I turned up, did what was asked, and, eventually, got paid, thats not work, work involves thinking, challenges. Thats the word I looking for, challenges, thats what I need. A new challenge, something to tax me, but what?
What indeed...
Answers on a postcard to....
In case anyone is still reading, you've probably gathered that this is purely for myself. Too often I've thought this shit, and then by the morning its forgotten about. Mornings lol, what are they? I need this documented so at least I can read it back(That'll be a bloody chore) and know what's going through my head.
What am I interested in? Not what I watch/do/reseasrch, thats all mindless crap. Music? probably. Agency? whats an agent do..... Lots of research... good. Talking to people... bad... dont like talking to people unless I have to... sorry! Actually thats not true, but I'm not deleting anything, I need to look back later at everything thats going through my head.
Anyone who hasn't falen asleep reading this might have gathered that I ain't exactly in a good place right now. What place am I in? Well, where am I? Edinburgh? Scotland? Do I need to be elsewhere? I need a focus, I need something... anything...
I'm sorry, anyone who has read this is probably wondering what the hell's going on, (christ so am I!) but after some sleep I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things.... the same things I've always done..... probably always will.....
I'll read this back and post a reply to myself (hmmmm.....) tomorrow.....
over and out for now

Ramblings from America
Sitting at a computer here in the US, a rare day off for the band on tour, so I thought I'd post something on this blog thingy lol.
It's halfway trough May already, where'd the time go? We've had a good start to the year, after a frantic 2007.
After a well-earned break in the beginning of January, we've been back to the usual formula of non-stop playing all over Scotland. So far we've been in some amazingly different locations, from Edinburgh to Lossiemouth, to Shieldaig, to Nairn, with many othe stop in between.
At the moment we are in the middle of our spring tour to the US and Canada. After arriving here on the 29th April, we headed up to Ontario for 3 shows. The first of these was in Elliot Lake, in northern ON. 17 hours in a car doesn't go down as one of the highlights of the tour, but the scenery is spectacular, and the gig was well attended, despite the inclement weather. From there we also id shows in Gravenhurst in a wonderfully restored old theatre, and Kincardine, a scottish community in western ON, where we met more Scots than Canadians!!!
After a couple of days off we started off the US leg of the tour with a live radio broadcast on WKPN in Bridgeport Connetticut ( I can never spell that word) and 2 shows in New Hampshire, followed by a show for the St Andrews Society in Providence, Rhode Island (again more scots that anyone else). Last night we were up in Maine for a show in a wonderful little auditorium called one Longfellow Square. It really is a great little venue.
From here we go back up to Maine for the next 2 shows, then over to Vermont, back to CT(which Im not even going to attempt to spell again) the New York State and then a TV show in Massetusetts(spelling again I know) . If anyone is interested in hearing some interviews and live shows, check out www.soundsofscotland.com (An interview from Kincardine with andy Mack) This is also a weekly radio show with 100% Scottish music, and well worth a listen for anything from jimmy shand to Runrig, and us of course. Also from sunday you should be able to find a live TV show from Vermont on www.latenightsaturday.com
Enough of the ramblings for now, ad I'll scribble again once we're back in Scotland
All the Best

North Sea Gas
Well, first entry in here so I'd better say something.
Coming to the end of a very busy year for me personally and the band. It started out in January in Estonia (which feels like yonks ago!)
A couple of tours of America, and a couple of Germany later and its December already. Where does the time go?
In saying that its been a good year, hard work but a lot of good fun as well
I will write more to this when I am more awake (Honest!)

Stevie Agnew62 weeks agoHay Grant !
We are pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for the first official “Walking Into Walls” EP Launch Party being held on SATURDAY 15TH OF NOVEMBER upstairs at the CORNER MUSIC BAR . Stevie and the band ( Dave Bernthal (Guitars) , Chis Agnew (Bass) , Liam Saunders (Keyboards) and drummer Chris Smith) will be performing a full set of original material from their forth coming debut album.
The official launch party will give the chance for Stevie’s fans and friends to see the band perform a full set which isn’t always possible when playing support. Tickets for the gig which are strictly limited to 200 can be bought from behind the bar at the CORNER MUSIC BAR and will undoubtedly sell out fast. So spread the word, tell your friends, relatives, neighbours, and strangers in the street, if there is one gig to go to this year it will be this one!
The Modern Faces who have recently played at the Glasgow Barrowlands and have amassed their own ever increasing crowd will be playing as special guests which should ensure that the night is kicked off with a bang !
Tickets for the gig are priced at only £5 (subject to booking fee )
Hope to see all our Bebo friends there

Jamie Millard64 weeks agoNot sure if it's the best win in history - we were in the top division at one point, and were top of the league at xmas having beat everyone. Many moons ago.
Definitely the best game of football I have ever been to. It had everything... 2-0 up, then 2-2 so ET. 3-2 straight away in extra time to them. Then 4-3 us. Unbelievable. Some cracking goals too - our free kick for our second was simply sensational.
Not many wee teams have the balls to go to a top 6 spl side and play 3-4-3... -
