The OZ was formed in the summer of 2005 in St. Petersburg, Russia, when a few musicians from some completely non-related bands started working together on an album of punk and post-punk covers of political and obscure John Lennon songs. The band has been working in studio as well as smoothing out the material for the album up until recently frequently performing in St. Petersburg and Moscow clubs and fests
The album. 'Punk-opera CheLennon"
After it was all said and done, they named the album "Punk-Opera Che Lennon". Now the OZ plans to release the album officially during the upcoming Fall to the 67th birthday of John Lennon as a somewhat experimental form of 'punk-opera' with the addition of a few reprises of little known politically-intense interviews with John Lennon and a string-group instrumental versi

They're The Oz and they work hard. As I listened to this CD, 'Che Lennon', I saw John Lennon's smile across the sky.
He'd have loved it. I really did. Interspersed with little clips of interviews, in a Pink Floyd kind of way, The Oz cranks out the best of Lennon's rebellious songs. This ain't no Beatles cover band, but they make no bones about being Beatle fans from Russia.
