- Ich über mich
- Hey, Hi to you and thanks for reading, I started life in Market Harborough, then Hartlepool, Durham for a few years and am now in Perth, Scotland. I do not have an plans to move further north as it is cold enough here, however...
I am now a professional youthworker , but am continuing studies because no one stopped my medication, so ill be doing my honours year at ICC, and now working for Perth YMCA on the SIdewalk project - see Bebo site! its going great!
Im married to Lynn and we have two children, Anna (6) and George (4) who are getting slightly scottish accents and they are growing up really quickly....
thats all for now, folks - btw i am also on facebook now as well.... - Music
- Not the most eclectic mix, the killers, razorlight, athlete, coldplay, U2, Snow Patrol, muse, also love the music of young people actually performing, and for that come along to the acoustic cafe YMCA Perth on thursdays 7pm, i like some christian stuff as well like hillsong, dc talk, delirious but i tend to just listen to radio 1 all the time..
- Bible Verse
- I love Psalm 103, 1 John 1:9 and John 3:17 as they epitamise God in his grace and mercy, his mission and his love for us and desire to give us a clean life if we so confess and achnowledge our faults to him
- Sports
- I am too competitive for my own good, and play some sports, football, badminton and table tennis, as well as swimming and going to the gym now and then
- Places
- I love my house and especially the fridge... i also love being outside, walking, thinking and praying, some places i have fond memories of; West view baptist church - where i got married to Lynn, Durham Cathedral - just majestic, Hartlepool a maligned place where some genuine and honest people live.. and Perth because the scenery here and around about is just stunning...
- Happiest When
- Things in my life challenge me, but also when i am content and safe in the knowledge that God loves me and i am part of his plans, when Lynn and the Kids are happy, healthy and we're enjoying stuff together and when i spend time with friends Allan, John, Adrian and Tracey (and their kids), when im playing sports especially football, badminton or swimming , and actually when im working or when im meeting and chatting with young people - its great to enjoy your profession! bizarrely i sometimes enjoy writing essays too! ( im a freak) I also enjoy reality residentials!

I am trying to do an essay about Jesus..
I realise that in Jesus we see a man who in his sole attitude and character led a life completely for other people and to God in its entirety, he was at no point wanting to do something for his own good, but for the mission he had been called to do.
He did not take his rest time for granted or felt he had to escape and stay away from the crowds for long periods of time, unlike us who often need a break to recharge.. He found energy, in providing compassion for others, even though at times it did drain him.
There is no I in Jesus, he led a life for others without a shred of selfishness in him at all, this was the main temptation he faced from the devil, "go on do something to make your life easy and use your power for your own gain" (turn the stone into bread, jump of a cliff or worship the devil himself).
Are we predominately an 'I' Christian world that does what we want individual and cares about others when provoked ( by scenes on children in need etc) or can we hand on heart say that we live our christian lives for others and for God, without a conscious attempt to seek our own gain...
I am reminded of the words of Jim eliot who said " it is no fool to give what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose"
Is Jesus selflessness our inspiration for ministry or something else?0 Kommentare 763 Tage

I have just returned from a REALITY weekend.....
and i am not tired
and i have not had to shout or raise my voice
and i have made 6 new friends
and i have shared my faith
and i have read 6 chapters of the bible to young people
and i have not got too wet ( other leaders had their share of water/ mud fights)
and i have climbed up a waterfall
and i have climbed up a tree
and i have got to know and spend some real quality time with 3 young people
and i played 6 lots of indoor football and could still run around like a looney in the last minute of the last session
and i feel invigorated as a youthworker, a christian and as a person
and i have a renewed sense of faith in the capability of individuals even if they are normally in difficult challenging situations
and i didnt eat any chocolate - not even a tunnocks caramel wafer....
and i have had the privaledge of spending time answering young peoples , spontaneous, questions about God, the bible, church and angels..
and i realise that good things do come to an end, but that for this moment, between 28th-30th sept 2007, this small community of people shared a weekend that will be treasured by all who were there, so i that the God of all of us, his immaculate timing and planning, and to Reality for the organisation and to the people of Compass Christian centre, and most of all the the three young people ( you know who you are) and the other leaders, George ( you were doing 40) , Liz ( marathon woman) and Dave ( Great guys) who shared in this fantastic experience.

reality Camp
15 great things about the reality camp ive just been on and 1 drawback!
1. the weather - gorgeus
2. the young people - great to get to know
3. the activities, challenging and fun - especially capsising in loch tay 6 times and jumping into loch tay from 7 metres
4. the food - not bad - and there was lots of it
5. the other leaders, we had some great times, though never to be missed Jamies feminine laugh and the gross stench of an alan clyne bottom burp
6. my team, daniel, shannon, lucy and scott, a great bunch
7. the young people deciding not to stay up all night on any night!
8. realising that i love doing this kind of work
9. The evidence of Gods work in all of the week
10. Gods creation, baby lambs and calves, red squirrels, frogs, and dead sheep bones (?)
11. living on adrenaline for 5 days
12. not ever being bored in 5 days
13. not missing my mobile phone, email or xbox
14. being the ( self proclaimed) best leader
15. loving every moment of every day for 5 complete days
and the drawback - missing yes my family, but also missing the greatest man utd game in history, but you dont have to as its now appearing on my videos!

x
Uni is going good thanks! I'm back to perth today!
Howz things with you?
x
James.
If you have not yet done so, watch Dogma.
It's a comedy about Christianity but it makes good points about the way some people don't take religion seriously anymore and how some people take it too seriously in the wrong way.
Plus, it has Jay and Silent Bob in it, so it has to be good.
indeed, well u know what I mean!!
I know someone you know!!!!
WK is good! Not much snow - too near the coast!
How are you?
Anna
All the best with the two essays...
Just to remind you that I'd like to hear about the next Sidewalk thingy,
.......
:p
Back to studying, is it? That's why you're on Bebo? Happy New Year to y'all. Ax
Health & placement good. Yes, I start back officially at start of term but had a couple of things to finish off. How are things with you?
WOOHOO, count me in!
maybe this will be the thing to light a proverbial under my.........
Gonna be looking fir ya in the new year!
oooooo, that sounded a bit threatening, sorry. It would be a good thing. Maybe structured? What about motivated? Informed? Empowered? TELL ME NOW!!!
Love to your beautiful family, xxxx
Heyho James!
Hadn't heard........whatya doin?
Are you looking forward to christmas with all your cherubs?
BIG HUG FORM LYNNIE, xxxx
I'll have a go at the England job - and what's even better is that I can bring the foreign element to the game that England have been lacking. It won't be long till they play football the Manx way!!
JK
p.s. any joy with the research yet? I think I'm going to have to rethink mine as either people are on holiday or aren't getting back to me!!
Don't you just love Scotland!! Everything to the extreme!!
) Its a jealousy thing really!!
I too would like it if England qualified too - but I feel for the case of wishing to support them more freely will only ever happen when we are better than you (and let's face it - that's never going to happen
Aussi i sadly an used to it, being both Scottish and an Arab, the tension, optimism, then disappointment is a regular occurence in football - never mind the fingernails, its the blood pressure I worry about!! No wonder the health of the nation is so poor....
...although our love of everything deep fried probably doesn't help!!
I am extreeeeeemly well ta mr james especially as i no longer have to attend that institution fondly named ICC. I am sure you miss me loads and loads. I must pop through for coffee and bacon butties sometime and catch up but i am afraid i will end up in a lecture room writing an essay! When r u in college these days?
