We both had seen each other around Tech and talked barely to each other once, but it was the start of March 2007 that Paul and I met properly and started a great friendship. I remember it vividly. I was walking down the science corridor with a class friend and spotted Paul waiting outside his class. I was currently in a bad mood and not a great fan of men at that point, so I walked right up to him and asked him the question, 'Why are all men bastards?'

That is where it began.

After that Paul and I became friends. We mostly talked in Tech, where he would come and find me between classes or during breaks. We got along great and there was a hint of attraction. I have to say I wasn't really looking for another relationship, and even though I did like Paul, I didn't see us getting together.

The next step was when we started talking to each other for hours on the internet and texting. It got to the point where we where always talking to each other, one way or the other. I became more interested in Paul as we got to know each other more.

March 31st 2007, my 17th birthday and we were still friends. Paul wanted to give me a kiss for a present at my house, where I was having a party. Unfortunately that did not happen, but all through the party we were close and even cuddled.

The date we officially started going out was 10th April 2007. We had kissed before then, but we never really talked about going out until that night.

Paul and I are a perfect match. At the start of our relationship we were still getting to know about each others pasts, and truth is we both don't like aspects of our pasts. We had done things we wished we hadn't and got close to people we wish we hadn't.

Our relationship at times was hard, but we got through it. Now we know everything there is to know about each other.

Paul moved in to my house around June and has been living with me ever since. It now feels like that certain thing missing in my life is now here, making me whole. I can't imagine what it would be like to not have Paul here with me. I can't believe I went seventeen years or so without him.

So, on the 29th March 2008, we went out for a quiet meal for my birthday. To my surprise the whole family was there. After we had our food, a lovely big cake was brought out by the manager and 'happy birthday' was sung to me. I actually hate things like that, they are embarrassing. After all that the manager of the restaurant pulled off a ribbon that was on the cake and there wrote in icing was 'Will you marry me?' I then saw Paul down on one knee with a rose and a beautiful ring. I cried... and ruined my makeup.

Our engagement will be remembered forever. The way it was done was amazing. I only plan on getting engaged once, not like other young people who get engaged in every relationship they have.

Paul and I were planning on getting engaged since last year. We had planned it on our one year anniversary. So, I was very surprised when Paul did it early and in such a public way.

Our plan is to now save up money and get our own place to live. Then the wedding plans will begin when we have our own place and decent jobs.

All those family and friends who have been supportive and great, I thank you all.

A part of the prologue from my book.

Hundreds of heavy footsteps thundered through the open land and the clinking of metal armour travelled through the cold air, along with the fierce growls that rose and fell with the changing wind. The ground itself trembled like a minor earthquake as the small grassland creatures fled from the sudden disturbance in fear.
Bronze short swords were tied to every individual’s tattered belt around their waist and giant carved knives were strapped to their backs. Their bronze armour, strong and heavy, looked dirty with patches of mud and other dried substances splattered over it.
The small army headed north, and all the while the ugly humanoid creatures wanted nothing more than to get to their destination. In perfect rows of six, the creatures marched through the grasslands of Kalem, stopping at nothing unless something got in their way. To the right the Kingdom of Palensia could be seen in the distance, past the giant trees and Great River. Then, to the left, Mount Cravek stood miles high, far over the grasslands and forests. The army kept their gaze straight ahead, not looking at either alluring sight, and kept marching.
