Mediabox is a fund that offers disadvantaged 13-19 year olds the opportunity to create their own media projects. We enable young people to gain new skills, express themselves and get their voices heard.

We offer a variety of grants ranging from £500 to £40,000 for the creation of youth-led media projects.

Hundreds of organisations across England have already benefited from the scheme, impacting the lives of thousands of young people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

What's on offer?
We offer a variety of different grants ranging from £1,000 to £40,000 for organisations to create and distribute youth-led media projects. We also offer a smaller grant of £500 for individuals:

Mini Mediabox - open to grassroots and community youth organisations
Mid, Big and Mix - open to established youth and or media focused organisations
My Mediabox - open to individual young people via competitions and partner organisations

      Want to make a film? We’re giving you the chance.

      Bebo has teamed up with the Daily Mirror and Mediabox to hunt for inspirational new filmmakers.

      We're offering 10 lucky winners, a grant, all expenses paid workshop and the chance to be mentored by top industry professionals before seeing their films on TV and online!

      The winning films will be screened on Bebo and The Mirror website and broadcast on Charge on Community Channel.

      To enter visit http://www.mirror.co.uk/yourfilm09 and write a short paragraph describing your great idea for a documentary about something that matters to you.

      It's free to enter but you must be aged 13-19 and meet the criteria. The deadline is January 5th, 2009.

      REWRITE! A MOBILE PHONE FILM FESTIVAL. WWW.REWRITEFILMFESTIVAL.CO.UK

      Southwark Playhouse is hosting a mobile film competition alongside two Street Geniuses.

      The theme is Rewrite, "a mobile film competition for young people" which consists of 3 different categories: Remake, Reprogramme and Rewind.

      Remake!!
      Remake a film or a short scene from a television programme (with a twist). For example, not let trinity die in the matrix or keep the Asian family in Eastenders. What if a film was called Black Chicks instead of White Chicks?

      Reprogramme!!
      Reprogramme the audiences' views on something that affects you personally for example the youth of today. Does the media really give an accurate impression of the youth today?

      Rewind!!
      Rewind into the past and change something that's been done before, a sort of what if? For example. What if you took a left and not a right on your way out of your house? This moment in history can be a personal or a general moment.

      Channel 4 has just launched Disarming Britain (http://www.disarmingbritain.co.uk) and we're looking for comment and content from young people who are affected by gun and knife crime.

      So if you have something to say, and especially if you can say it on film - use a camcorder, a camera, a cameraphone, a webcam, anything - we want to hear from you.
